Anova Clinic focuses on the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and the Nike Training Center is a place where children in Soweto train for soccer and learn more about HIV prevention and treatment — Nike is a partner of (RED). ONE Hawaii members Kekoa and Kona, along with new members Shana, Meghan and Analisa rocked out at the Daughtry concert at the Kaka`ako Amphitheater in Honolulu. We got there before the gates opened and connected with the fans in line to raise awareness.

Some fans had been waiting in line since the early morning just to be one of the first to get in and enjoy the opening acts by local rock groups. It rained earlier in the day but when the concert started, the skies cleared and we were able to enjoy a fantastic tropical Hawaiian sunset followed by a starlit sky when Daughtry took the stage.

As I walked around the venue, I saw countless people sporting ONE wristbands and had the chance to speak with several people who asked me about ONE. I was honored to discuss our fight against extreme poverty, preventable diseases and issues like the Global fund, our No Child Born with HIV by 2015 video and the Millennium Development Goals.

At the venue, we signed up hundreds of new members. Tomorrow, the quest to spread the news about ONE’s efforts will continue on the grounds of Hawaii Pacific University, where Meghan and Analisa are meeting with fellow classmates and continuing to raise voices in the fight to bring hope to those who have none.

Great work, I’m proud of you all! I’d like to give out a special mahalo to concert producers BAMP Project for their support and generosity before and during the concert. It was because of them that our efforts are such a great success! Mahalo nui loa!

Just last Friday, lead guitarist Josh Steely proudly wore his ONE shirt during the band’s performance on the “Today” show — and even spoke about ONE’s mission and advocacy efforts in a Web-exclusive video interview for the show’s music series, Backstage Pass.

And this week, celebrity gossip blog PopEater came out with an awesome multimedia story on a day in the life of Daughtry. Scrolling through the video and photos, we were absolutely psyched to see that lead vocalist Chris Daughtry sported a ONE band throughout the day.

ONE volunteers from around New York poured in to show support for the band and help raise awareness about our issues. Josh Steely from the band was even sporting a ONE t-shirt! ONE members had a blast this weekend at the Daughtry shows in Hershey, Penn., and the Tropicana Showroom in Atlantic City, N.J. As fans arrived at both venues, our ONE teams shared information about ONE’s work in the fight against extreme poverty and preventable, treatable diseases in the world’s poorest countries.

We also got Chris Daughtry himself to retweet us on Twitter: “Very awesome!!! RT @barbiedoll869: @CHRIS_Daughtry ONE team got 482 new members tonight!”

“Small but might”. That was the theme for my first ONE volunteer effort Tuesday evening at the Daughtry concert at the Sprint Center in my hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. I met up with Libby, our Regional Field Director, and two other volunteers to spread the word about ONE to excited Daughtry fans. As we were getting ready the band walked by and waved hello to ONE members and thanked us for being there! We were lucky enough to get a picture with the guys before the show and each band member demonstrated his appreciation of ONE and the volunteers for the evening with a big hug for each of us and a sincere thank you for all that ONE does on behalf of the world’s poorest people.

The importance of Daughtry’s support of ONE’s vision was obvious as we began interacting with the concert goers, too. Before long, another several hundred members had eagerly pledged their support, with the majority coming from fellow ONE newbie, Cory.

It was so rewarding to be a part of engaging others in the fight against extreme poverty and preventable diseases. It’s proof, once again, that a small group of dedicated individuals can make a difference. If you haven’t joined ONE yet, I definitely recommend looking for a volunteer opportunity in your area. I promise you’ll be hooked. I know I am!

This time around the band DAUGHTRY will be playing and once again we’re expecting some influential members of the Party and media to attend.

We hope tonight’s event will build upon the work we’ve already done to bring the issue of global poverty to the forefront of this convention.

We had 3 hours to assemble 1,500 kits – but it was all done in just one hour.

During that time, former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle came by to help out, as did the band DAUGHTRY. We should have video of all that by tomorrow.

‘Til then, I’ll just have to apologize sheepishly for this very amateur camera-work. It does give you a sense of the atmosphere in the room.
