Last night, at City Hall, Mayor Ted Gatsas proclaimed Manchester, NH a “ONE City” — a gesture that recognizes ONE and US efforts to fight extreme poverty and save lives in the poorest nations around the world.
Manchester is the largest city in New Hampshire, and by becoming a ONE City, joining the likes of Chicago and Los Angeles, the city recognizes the important role its citizens play in the global economy and community.
Addressing the aldermen and the public, Mayor Gatsas invited our group of ONE members to the front of the room to receive the proclamation. He read aloud the proclamation, which commends US efforts that help save lives in the poorest nations and generate good will toward America.
In fact, it was much like what was discussed at Bill and Melinda Gates’ presentation of Living Proof. When he finished, ONE received a standing ovation from the alderman and crowd!
All 10,000 Granite State ONE members should be proud of Mayor Gatsas’ efforts to highlight the heroic and historic efforts of our country to save lives from hunger, disease and extreme poverty. We appreciate Mayor Gatsas taking time to use his voice for the world’s poorest people, and offer a warm welcome for ONE in the Queen City.
Life-saving American efforts that provide food, clean water and vaccines for those in desperate poverty is not a matter of partisan politics, but it is a matter of principals and leadership — and we thank Mayor Gatsas for his deep commitment to both!
