Former Iowa State Senator Jeff Angelo had the opportunity to meet with Governor Sarah Palin while at a recent Iowa Republican Party dinner.

Before her speech, Sen. Angelo had some one-on-one time with her and used it to advocate for ONE. He explained to Gov. Palin that he is a volunteer for ONE, and told her that ONE advocates to stamp out malaria and reduce suffering from AIDS and extreme poverty in Africa. He went on to tell her that people of faith know that our country remains morally strong in part because of the monumental development efforts in Africa, which were championed by the Bush Administration.

Gov. Palin was very positive and told Sen. Angelo that she was well aware of President Bush’s leadership in Africa, and already knew about ONE, too! Gov. Palin also encouraged Sen. Angelo to visit with her husband Todd about ONE’s efforts to save millions of lives around the world.

Fighting extreme poverty and global disease is not about any politician or political party, but about our nation’s proven life-saving policies and programs that can help save lives and lift many more out of dire circumstances. ONE aims to unite all people of good faith and political persuasions to help the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people, help themselves and we take great pride in our nation’s heroic efforts to fight hunger, disease and human suffering.

That’s great, but she’s not an elected official anymore. Unless she talks about it on her new talk show, she can’t really pass any legislative help.
