UPDATE: Here is “The Lazarus Effect” in its entirety:

Watch the preview, set your DVR, and tell your friends. This one is not to be missed. (RED)’s new documentary film “The Lazarus Effect,” airs tonight at 9:00PM ET on HBO, 9:30PM ET on YouTube and 11pm GMT on Channel 4 in the UK.

For weeks, we’ve been sharing the work our friends at (RED) are doing to get the word out about “The Lazarus Effect” and its message that there is hope for people living with AIDS in Africa. Two pills a day, that cost around 40 cents, can help transform peoples’ lives from near death to health. And (RED) has gotten a great group of supporters together to drive that message home in their video to help promote the film:

You can show your support by donating your status on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #lazaruseffect. You can also find (RED) at www.twitter.com/joinred and www.facebook.com/joinred and sign-up to get their newsletter here.

Watching tonight and getting the word out is just the start. You can get involved and take action by checking out these (PRODUCT)RED products from some of the world’s most iconic brands, who direct up to 50% of the gross profits to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. And, as a ONE member, you can make your voice heard in Washington, DC through our current “Fix This Budget” campaign, and join more than 20,000 people who have already told their senators to reverse proposed cuts to The Global Fund and other anti-poverty and disease priorities.

While I applaud your efforts to get affordable AIDS treatment to people in Africa, I was wondering what is being done to forward the same agenda here in the USA.

Your work is commendable! How 40 cents can save a life is incredible. What easy mechanism can be put in place to get every human in America to give up 40 cents to accumulate the money needed to save Africa from AIDS?

A lot is being done for A.I.D.S patients in the U.S.
Free health insurance – Medicaid has a special program for those with the disease
Free counseling, medication, support groups, housing assistance. The point is that the aforementioned services are not available in many other countries; hence, the interest in helping those who live in African countries.

I can’t say it enough…we have to unite in order to progress. I agree with Melina, how can we make donating “convenient”? So many things can be done by the push of a button these days. There are plenty of people who care, and if reminded and encouraged would help the cause…especially if it’s easy. Many people, however, don’t seem comfortable having bank and credit card info on file. What if we could donate each time we pay a bill, or buy gas, or get coffee? What if we could add a (RED) button onto our phones, our laptops, our websites? What if?

40 cents sounds like a good deal. Us Americans like a good deal.

For 40 cents I can buy a granola bar!

What a wonderful program! It is very inspiring to see peoples life transformed in a positive way.
I just read Give A Little about how small donations can change the world. It has many programs similar to this one. http://www.givealittlenow.com/

Everybody can do something to help others. It is great to see how many programs are around that cost so little and have such an impact.

I encourage everyone to find a cause that is important to you then go and support it with all your heart!

Two years ago I started a micro grant program for women in the USA, because I wanted to encourage more women to be financially independent. It is not a huge success, but I have helped a few people and that creates a ripple effect. All it takes is one person with an idea and the drive to make something happen.

Is abstinence an effective way of preventing “aids”? because if the majority of people that get it receive it from having sex, then….
Is it possible or probable that the divorce rate in the U.S. would be higher if it weren’t the fear of std’s and aids,
a lot of people are wallowing in despair and basically lousy relationships under the pretense of trying to be a family, but in reality they want to find their “true love” and are extremely distraught at the prospect of starting over, I am wondering, she is beautiful and I think about her all of the time and want to take her in my arms and hold her forever but will I get this condition if she has it, or should I just go to her and take her in my arms and love her anyway, love afterall does conquer a lot of things,
    just a thought

Amazing! This was such an eye opener. Kudos to HBO for making this part of their primetime programming. Our hearts go out to those who continue to wait for treatment – in Africe and around the world.
