All this week and next week, Harvard University is hosting “Africa Focus 2010“, which features a series of panel discussions around African issues.
Ambassador Johnnie Carson delivered they keynote address on Monday and outlined, among other things, the Obama Administration’s commitment to “substantial” increases in foreign assistance for Africa. He also reportedly touched on hunger and food security on the continent saying: “The U.S. is committed to supporting a new Global Hunger and Food Security Initiative, focusing predominantly on reducing hunger, poverty and under-nutrition. This $3.5 billion Food Security Initiative will also supply new methods and technologies to African farmers.”
