The Living Proof Project recently posted a new video, this one set in Malawi. It explores something called The Kangaroo Mother Care program, which “teaches mothers how to increase the body temperatures of their newborns by wrapping the babies to their bare chests.” The skin-to-skin contact helps reduce hypothermia, among other benefits.
It’s a pretty remarkable video. Check it out:

This is what the NICU that my daugther stayed in a year ago let me do with her, and it was absolutely healing and calming, the best thing that we could have ever done for her health and spirit. I’m so behind this effort.

This video brought back a flood of memories for me!! We have a nine year old daughter who was born at 26 weeks gestation and lived in the NICU for 3 months. Kangaroo care was the only contact we had with her for the first few weeks of her life. I definitely feel that it helped us bond. What a wonderful experience for these mothers! Thanks for this story.

What a wonderful testament to the power of knowledge, communication and mothering. It’s so inspiring to know what can be done to save a child’s life with a simple solution that we all carry around with us-body heat. Thanks for this story. I hope many more will see it and be inspired to support ONE.

It is pretty remarkable video I agree to it. It is a touching story that brought to this video. Gives me tears on me on their burdens with her situations but there will always be hope and that hope would be given to them. That there are wonderful thing will happen like Kangaroo Mother Care come to help.
It is what they needed most. Keep helping others on their needs for their children and you’re blessed with people whom you helped.
