As you probably know, tomorrow November 11th is Veterans Day. The ONE Blog will have the unique honor of running a very special series from men and women who have served in our Armed Services. While serving overseas, our veterans have an opportunity to see firsthand the connection between helping some of the world’s poorest people and our national security.

So be sure to check the ONE Blog throughout the day for some of these really great stories.

I know this isnt really a politcal blog that is giving a lot of insight, but I just wanted to express how great it is that you all are going to be honoring those who have fought for us. With many family and friends that have gone to fight overseas and also done service here in America, it is incredible to hear the stories that they tell of what all they have seen, done, and heard of others doing. My grandfather who fought in Vietnam has sat down with me numerous times talking about things that he had to do or saw while in the service and every time he says that without fail, one of the most difficult things that he remembers having to deal with was just seeing the amount of orphans and povershed families that were there, helpless. It is so rewarding to hear from some of my friends over in the middle east talking about what all they did to help families and children over there, my personal favorite part of hearing from these soldiers is when they show me pictures of them with these families and children and seeing the smile and relief that is expressed on their faces from a little help.
