Get on your boots, North America

The U2 360 spaceship has landed in North America, and we’re off to a rockin’ start. Matt (who’ll be running the tour for most of the North American tour) met me in Chicago and we ran around town gathering T-shirts, wristbands, and our new tabling set up. Everything was in perfect order, including the weather. I’m told the odds of 4 September days of 72 degree sunny weather is an near impossibility in Chicago, but that’s what we got.

Our 30 volunteers were in good form, recruiting new members by the thousands. The biggest obsticale they ran into was that many of the fans were already ONE members. Not a bad problem to have!

I’m in Toronto now, and ready to get rolling on another two shows. I hope to see you at a show soon!

It was a blast to help out! Thanks so much for the opportunity. Not sure why I didn’t make it in this photo. I’m going to go with the excuse that I was out signing people up :-)

So cool to hear the weather was so wonderful. The weather here in northern California is also perfect. I am in NYC now enjoying a fun stroll around Central Park and will later head toward SOHO, to buy some rare albums and taste the local pizza, should be a great time for someone who doesn’t get back East very often!

Hope the Toronto show goes smoothly and everyone enjoys the “musical” presentation in a 360 degree circle. That will be awesome when they get to Las Vegas, with all the other distractions keeping fans occupied in the event of some cataclysmic event, like 9-11 or a huge hurricane in New Orleans. Won’t happen where U2 plays, no siree, it will always be like a gentle breeze blowing through ones infinitely serene mind (Bono’s, I mean) so everyone pray for the best weather to visit this entire tour!

Totally a blast, can’t wait for all those West Coast events, in the round, outdoors! Blessings.

Debra (from a holiday locale, let’s just keep that a secret, shall we?)

    Cheers, cubs fans ;)

Hey yes it was great to see One at the opening night if the U2 North American tour, I proudly wore my One Africa shirt to the show. Is there a way to purchase the shirt or make a donation to receive the shirt that the volunteers were wearing? I live in Cincinnati & Chicago was the closest show to me. Thanks for all you do One!

Our high schoolers would LOVE to be volunteers at the U2 concert booth next week on Wed. or Thurs. at Giants Stadium. They are so involved in the MDGs and raised a ton of money last spring for the Hope of Sudan Alliance (Lost Boys) at our U2charist ($8,400) so they’d love to help out at this event. Could you please contact us if we can help? Thanks so much.

    Hey Weldon,
I have been really involved with ONE in the past in Oklahoma and just moved to Boston around a month ago. I would love to help at the concert this weekend. I can probably gather around some other people that have been campus leaders or so to help out too. Please let me know how can I get involved and help in the concert. Hope to hear from you soon!!!! Let’s end World Poverty!!

Thank you Weldon for the opportunity to spread the news about ONE, and to sign up lots of new members. The laptops were handy, and made the sign-up process simple. Thank you for a Beautiful Day! Best wishes…Janice

I had the remarkable privilege of working with Weldon and some amazing volunteers at the U2 concert last night at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. The weather was perfect, the crowds enthusiastic and more than willing to listen to our message and sign up, and the concert and our participation simply unforgettable. Weldon did a terrific job, and it was great getting to know some of the other volunteers. Moved to tears at the experience of being able to share in Bono’s plea on behalf on Aung San Suu Kyi, it was a truly unforgettable experience. Keep up this important work, and thank you for letting me be a tiny part of it.

All for ONE and ONE for all, great work everyONE, keep it up, we were glad to have had an input helping out the ONE campaign in Wembley met a lot of nice folk. It’s good to know that people really can and do make the difference.

Being a ONE volunteer in Chicago on 9-13 was such an incredible experience. It was great to meet ONE members and to recruit many more. The concert was absolutely amazing, and being able to participate was unforgettable. Thanks to Weldon for a Beautiful Day!

Can someone tell me how to find my picture from the 9/23 concert @ Giants Stadium.
We actually made the big screen, and it was an awesome pic, but its not with all the others.
If anyones seen it, I’m in the middle wearing a black bandanna and black sunglasses, with a beautiful blonde kissing one cheek and a beautiful burnette on the other.
I would love to frame the pic… It was awesome!!
