August Recess Senate Meetings – Coming to Your State!

Your senators are coming home for August recess, giving you a great opportunity to meet them at their district offices and help advance the fight against global poverty.

Check out ONE’s August recess meetings in your state, and RSVP for the one nearest you.

Over the coming months, the Senate will make critical decisions about helping the world’s poorest people deal with the impact of climate change, as well as the Water for the World Act, funding for programs including the Global Fund, and other aspects of development policy. Your senators care what their constituents have to say, and a face-to-face meeting is the best way for you to voice your concerns.

This is our chance to demonstrate real grassroots support for proven, affordable solutions to extreme poverty and preventable diseases.

Right now, all you have to do is let us know—through your RSVP—which district office you’d be interested in visiting. We need constituents to make the phone calls to set up the times and dates for these meetings, so we’ll fill you in on that information later.

RSVP here.

See you in August!

I was all set to RSVP a meeting with Senator Gillibrand, thinking about all the different issues that I would like to discuss; including the interconnectedness of environmental sustainability (apparent lack of support from earths peoples and how this contributes to) and poverty in our world, when I was impressed that meeting times were full! How cool is that? And I actually did laugh out loud. Looks like y’all have it covered.

I have signed up be a part of the delegations that will visit both my Senators’ district offices in Austin TX.
I just hope that these office visits become a reality because we have tried similiar ideas to this in the past and nothing ever materialized.

If I don’t hear back from someone connected to this venture by next weekend, I’ll contact y’all so that we don’t let this opportunity slip through our hands!

    Thanks for doing this, ONE.

Billie — we’ve increased the RSVP limit from 20 people per meeting to 40. So now you can go back and RSVP for the meeting you wanted!

    Hi there,

Just wanted to give an update for Minnesota. I have put in the scheduling request.. they have gotten back to me but said that Senator Franken was unavailable… They then told me that I could request a meeting with a staff member…. soooo I have put that scheduling request in for the climate bill. When I submitted that they said it could take up to two weeks to process. I have my fingers crossed that they’ll let us meet with someone! Just giving you all an update. : ) Oh the 2nd request with the staff member was submitted on the 11th.

    Thanks
    Victoria
