Hey smith - thanks for your comment that I would like to respond to.

It's great that you're really concerned about us here in the USA who live in poverty. I just lost a job at the end of last month & am now looking for employment again. I have been part of the "working poor" in the USA for many years and I can tell you that poverty sucks - bigtime.

That is why I advocate for the world's poorest people through ONE - because I can only imagine how much worse life is in countries where there is no unemployment insurance or food stamps to help you get through REAL poverty.

The programs that ONE supports (if you look over this website - especially the "The Issues" page) are doing great good in Africa by installing clean water wells, providing families with bednets so that children don't catch malaria & die, encouraging more trade with African countries, providing life-saving medicine to people so that they can live to support themselves & their children, building schools so that children have a better future, etc - are changing lives in the world's poorest regions for the good....and AS AN AMERICAN, I AM PROUD OF MY COUNTRY FOR DOING WHAT IT'S DOING TO END EXTREME POVERTY IN THE WORLD.

Now if someone like me who is part of the working class poor in the USA supports helping others out around the world who suffer from poverty more than me, I would hope that other Americans will understand the importance of the work that ONE and JOIN US!

I wish you well, smith.

AS ONE, debbie :)

I think that its great trying to help people in africa. however, there is alot of poverty going on this country and i think you should be working on getting people here in the usa help. i also found it a little disturbing to read that this organization seems to be bullying italy because it has not come up with enough money. and not doing thier part. i think your organization should be thankful for anything that was done. i think this is terrible and i will be reading more and more about this organization.
