In our Water for the World campaign we’re featuring a moving video from our friends at charity: water. It’s one of the best dramatizations we’ve seen of the suffering more than a billion people face because they lack access to clean water and adequate sanitation. Plus, it stars Jennifer Connelly. Check it out below:

In Savannah, Georgia, we have the continuous poisoning of our drinking water by the leaking of the radioactive material stored at the Savannah River Site. Savannahians depend upon the Savannah River as their main water supply. The government has never solved this problem in its continuous operation of the Site. It should be shut down and all radioactive material should be removed from the ground.

This is the beggining of a new era, a shift, a new way of doing things.
There is a plan, and we are a part of this plan.
Thank you for your commitment

The Clean WAter campaign is admirable. However, it MUST be accompanied by actions based on the truth that the world is running out of clean water resources. Provision of access must also include education and (affordable) pricing mechanisms that also encourage conservation and frugal use. Perhaps the first 30 liters of everyone’s water bill should be “free” (the amount needed for drinking and basic life sustenance), then additional amounts pro-rated gradually according to use levesl (with farmers and homeowners growing food given allocations for those productive purposes. American lawns should be priced out of existence !! (ha! – I have one myself, but they are still a terrible drain on water). Marie

Future wars will be fought over water and not as much over oil. Turn lawns into gardens and the water now used for lawns can help feed the world. Start with the White House lawn to lead the way. Turn at least 50% of any lawn into a working garden. As far as cleaning up the world’s water, enzymes are an environmentally safe and economically effective method to clean up water, waste lagoons, septic fields etc. If you are interested in learning more, contact Ed Schneider at: eschneider158@gmail.com (You will be amazed!)

I’m sitting here looking at my bottle of water and know that I take it for granted that when I want water I have a choice between tap water or bottled water. I don’t know that I could ever imagine having to walk miles and miles for unclean, unsafe water even one day, let alone every single day. Americans tend to take for granted things like clean water for drinking and bathing, clean facilities, etc…we should be mindful of what we have and try to share and help others who do not have the same access – through no fault of their own – to the basic necessities of life.

I’m just a mom in Kentucky that is barely getting by myself, but I want to help. What can I do if I can’t donate any money?

This is a wonderful thing. I am worried that we are forgetting our own “third world”, the Indian reservations. Did you know the majority of reservations don’t have potable(?) water? Do you know how much the Government is helping? Zilch! Oh, there is some help but usually the wrong kind, like giving them the wrong kind of food to eat causing all sorts of diseases (read diabetis(?)).
I do agree that countries where there is no clean water close to villages or sections of cities need our help but, please, think about our reservations and the people who live there.
While I’m at it, how about doing away with all the back yard swimming pools and other wasteful habits. Our aquifers aren’t infinite you know.

We need not take water for granted. Alot of people don’t have any clean water and i think that is awful. I really can’t imagine walking miles for water and i never want to have to.

This is completely solvable and cureable… Let’s do something about it instead of just being sad about it for 15 minutes, and then resuming our lives as if everything is okay…. We get sad about something, perhaps give $20 to a fund thinking we are helping (and it is appreciated, I’m sure) and then we get into our SUV’s and start playing a movie on our in-car DVD Player for our kids, and we go to Starbuck’s and spend $30 or more for coffee and treats for the kiddos… I feel completely guilty about this. We American’s take water for granted.. Start screaming this message from our roof-tops, and send letters to our Sentators… Get the physical mailing address for your Senators, and send a physical letter to them. Senators and Congress do not have to answer email letters, but are required to send you a return letter by mail stating their position regarding this subject.. So get to writing!!!

It just ain’t fair this thing called thirst
We’re one step there, and the other does nothing
I would have done anything for a drink
I’m still thirsty, I’m thirsty
Tears from the Angels pour down like rain
But the Angels have forgotten to cry for them
Be an Angel, Cry for them yourself, no drought here

I wish for all a healthy earth – fresh water, clean and unpolluted food, clean air, and a roof over our heads – safe from war and agression – free to practice our own religion and to embrace our own philosphies. In our evolution as human beings, and with all our technology, I believe we can do this. But will we? One person, one step at a time.
Blessings…

It is the right thing to do — we must help others to help themselves. Que siute dio liute
