Students Becoming Leaders Against AIDS in Silicon Valley

Last Friday, I attended the Silicon Valley Youth Leadership Summit event where 250 students were given resources and techniques to become leaders in the fight to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. 

Keynote speakers were Texas A&M University Professor Rick Rigsby and Executive Director of the Batman movie series  Michael Usla. They were both phenomenal at motivating students to become leaders.

Executive Director of the AIDS Coalition Silicon Valley (ACSV) Dane Dugan, (who was introduced to ONE during a tabling event last month in San Jose, CA) invited ONE to speak at the event. During the day I also met AIDS Coalition of Silicon Valley’s Chair Judy Whittier. Though education, services and fund raising efforts, the AIDS Coalition of Silicon Valley help organizations provide services and leadership throughout the community. ONE members have a long standing partnership with the group, as ONE members participate in ACSV’s local AIDS Walk every fall.
