Today ONE members are taking action to make sure the African Union keeps its promise to put Zimbabwe on the right footing and show the world that it is serious about change. The African Union (AU) will serve as guarantor for the new Zimbabwe “unity government” and it is critical that they take immediate action to ensure Zimbabwe takes steps in the right direction.
In recent weeks, Zimbabwe has attempted to form a “unity government” between President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai. Show the African Union that the world is watching to make sure it keeps its promise to this new government, by signing our petition to the newly-elected African Union chairman Muammar Gaddafi.
Petition text:
Please ensure that the African Union executes its role as guarantor of the new Zimbabwe unity government.
In the past weeks and months we’ve been keeping you posted on the ONE Blog about the increasingly volatile and dangerous situation taking place in Zimbabwe. After suffering through a botched and violent election last year, Zimbabwe remains a land of devastation. 28 years of increasingly dictatorial rule by President Robert Mugabe have led to hyperinflation, food shortages and a breakdown of basic public services.
Take action now by adding your name to our petition asking the African Union to do its job as guarantor of the unity government, and work to end the political repression that has crippled Zimbabwe.
Thank you for your voice,
-Chris Scott

Mugabe is one of the most stupid and most dangerous people on the planet who is running a country. This is 2009, why are we still having onversations about citizens that have no running water, no fuel to cook with, the disappearance of animals for bushmeat sales, and diseases such as dysentary making a come back because of uncleanliness.
Doctors, nurses, and teachers are not getting paid, so how do you and your communities survive on other peoples greed? He needs to be removed–not just striped of his knighthood by the Queen of England.

Peace and Unity, not just in Africa but the whole world, can only come through the love and the Divine Mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus “The Christ”. Until humans all over the world learn these lessons and teachings of Our Father in Heaven and obey and do God’s will and not ours, that is to love, forgive, and pray for those who hurt and pursecute you, there will never be world peace. For he came to save the world from sin, he now sends me to teach the world through his words, to love the world uncondionally, to sacrafice my life in his name. For I am Chad, “the heart” of Africa! Amen

I’ve personally been to Zimbabwe, to Harare, Bullawayo, Victoria Falls, and to villages in “the bush”. I left part of my heart there forever. The people I met there are some of the most kind, generous, and loving people I’ve ever met in my life. They are held captive in their own land by the most selfish leader our world knows today. He is not stupid as people seem to believe. He has been highly educated and is a very intelligent, though highly immoral, economist — one who knows how to rape the economy of an entire nation to benefit himself, his friends, and his family. It is past time for this man to be removed from power. It is time for this nation to finally be given the ability to pick itself up, dust itself off, and begin the road to recovery.

After having travelled to Zimbabwe in July 2006 and seeing thing for my own eyes, I know it is very important for us to do all that we can to help make this change.

Am I the keeper of my brothers and sisters? That’s the eternal question and test of civilization. It’s time to say yes. A thief and murderer should not be the leader of a country.
February 17, 2009 at 3:13 pm
I am on the Board of Directors of a charitable organization that supports a village outside Victoria Falls in Zim. I have gone on 3 mission trips to the village since 2006. I have seen these wonderful, loving people suffer and die from lack of food, water, and medical care. And, this “unity” government is a farce. Mugabe is still wreaking havoc in this country, imprisioning and torturing anyone who opposes him.

In the mid-80’s I worked with a farmer from Zimbabwe. He was visiting the United States and learning about our farms here in America. His family farm was 56,000 acres. Enormous by any standards. Most of the farmers they employed were black. A very productive and successful farm. I wish him the best, although I doubt he is farming in Zimbabwe now. Without this farming productivity Zimbabwe will never return to normalcy. Mogabe may be highly revered in Africa but his time in office should have long since ended.

It is time for all that have plundered, raped, victimized, abused, colonized, enslaved others to loose their power. The universe will no longer support that type of behavior. What happen to people being self reliant and self sufficiant? There are those who are wicked and do not want others to surpass them or even just survive. The wicked will fall, you must believe that. It is just a matter of time, all is in divine order and being established. Take your power back and you will rise up out of hell.

Ignoring Africa demans both Africans and the country’s who ignore them. In times of trouble and in times of calm unity can help bring toubles to resolution and assure calm is sustainable. Give African nations and their peoples the opportunity to thrive as individuals and as nations so they can make contributions on many different levels and make this world a safer, calmer, more enriching place to live.

I volunteered in a high school in Old Mutare, Zimbabwe during July 2007, and I fell in love with the students. They out-work 95% of the students in the US. They deserve our support in order to have a chance to achieve their potential. Please do all you can to support the Zimbabweans.

I hope this signed petition sends the message to polititians, not only in Zimbabwe, but other African countries; that the world is not unaware of what is happening in those countries, even when we live thousands of mile away. It really bugs me that most of those leaders have been educated in the developed world and even with that knowledge and experience from democratic countries they still want to take advantage of their own people. My hearts and prayers for the people of Zimbabwe in hope that their leaders do what is best for their country.
February 17, 2009 at 8:41 pm
Zimbabwe is one of the worst examples of how a nation can go from 100 to zero in a few decades. The country was one of the best in economy, education and prestige, good government and happy people. In the name of ‘nationalism’ and ’self-rule’ it has now become a hotbed of dictatorship, destruction and devastation. Zimbabwe has lost all that it had. Even the Unity Government is powerless since Mugabe is still there. The nation needs a complete change and Mugabe must go..
However, let’s hope that the African Union brings some kind of order to the chaotic country.
God Bless Zimbabwe!

I was on a mission trip in Mamelodi, South Africa in November and got to hear about the atrocities in Zimbabwe. While on this trip I met a woman who left Zimbabwe with the clothes on her back and her 13 month old son for a better life in South Africa. She felt if she continued to be in Zimbabwe she might not be alive today.

I hope that Zimbabwe does what’s best for the indigenous Africans of that land and to make sure that European imperialism stays out of the control of the land and resources in Zimbabwe, as well as the rest of indigenous Africa.
After stealing the land and resources, the American media spends it’s time making sure that people don’t know the history of European modern day imperialist control of African peoples land and resources.
The indigenous African land and resources are the true concern for the European elite.
Don’t be fooled!
February 18, 2009 at 8:26 am
It’s obvious that the sooner Mugabe leaves the scene, the better off Zimbabwe will be. Mugabe has left the land in a mess; including a health crisis that could have been prevented. His cynical clinging to power has been the root of all the evils occurring in Zimbabwe. It remains to be seen what the African Union will do, but one thing is for sure; it’s high time Mugabe made his exit from power.
February 18, 2009 at 11:06 am
There is power in unity, clarity of the issues and movement toward the necessary healing for Zimbabwe. I hope that the work which is needed to serve these great people will continue in earnest and that those with the power to make the correct decisions for the people will embrace their role with certitude.

I spent a month in Zimbabwe in 2007. I made several friends and truly began to have a heart for that country. This was when things really started to downturn. When I arrived it was $1US to $25000 Zim. When I left it was $1 to $35000 Zim…IN ONE MONTH’S TIME! The people of Zimbabwe are incredible, kind, and compassionate and have dealt with so much over the last decade. Let’s free them of the new tyranny that they now live under!
February 18, 2009 at 7:16 pm
This new government with Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangarai cannot fail the African people of
Zimbabwe. The world is watching! It is time the beautiful people of Zimbabwe are finally free from rape, torture, slaughter and deprivation all in the name of greed and madness. They possess the resources and faith to contribute tremendously to the nation and world. May God bless and guide its leaders and its people.
February 18, 2009 at 11:15 pm
Control of the land and Zimbabwe’s resources is indeed the issue. The problem is that at the moment the prime agricultural land is hardly being worked at all. Zimbabwe is dependent on the efficient use of its land not just to feed its own people but also to generate foreign currency to provide many other essential services (drugs just being one of them). If the land is put to use again, properly, Zimbabwe will recover within 5 years. This should be the focus of the new government’s efforts and the AU should work to ensure that this is done without the political rhetoric that has clouded the issue for so long. The target should be to make a start in time for the next rainy season – i.e. by November 2009.
February 19, 2009 at 10:15 am
I agree Paul 100 percent. But it time to finally remove European control and privilege out of Africa. Trying to fool the world through the media is not the solution. Demonizing Africans now for centuries only helps to maintain control and disinterest over what is really happening to the indigenous African people. We can’t allow what happened to other people of indigenous lands by the European elite. President Robert Mugabe is just a smoke screen. With President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai working together, this will be good for the indigenous people.

As a Zimbabwean-American, I am very grateful to One.org for turning it’s attention to the plight in Zimbabwe in a substantive way. As mentioned by others, the people of Zimbabwe are truly loving, kind, hopeful, courageous, and possess a great generosity of spirit. Indeed, we have speculated that possibly Zimbabweans are too kind and tolerant for our own good. The nations vast potential has been eclipsed by maniacal greed and unthinkable forms of oppression meted out on any who dared to step up and speak out for freedom and democracy. It is my prayer that true change can come to Zimbabwe; that our agriculture, education, health care, water/sanitation systems, and economy can be restored. That we will once again be referred to as ‘Africa’s Paradise’ and ‘Africa’s Breadbasket’; the potential is there — in the land, in the people, in the country’s rich natural resources — the question is whether the AU, SADC and the rest of the world will look on indifferently, or step up to the call of being their brother’s keeper.

I think that Zimbabwe needs to clean up their act majorly. I recently did an article about Zimbabwe and the most sick and demented man on earth- Mugabe. I think that it is sad that Tsvangai won 100% fair but still had to flea the country because of the threats. Tsvangai needs to over power Mugabe because he is the new Prime Minester. I hope that the United States gets more involved now that we have an African American as a president. Maybe now he can care more than Bush did. I hope things work out for Zimbabwe and repair the damage that Mugabe has done. He needs to step down in order to do that tho. God bless Zimbabwe and their people, God’s will will hopefully Bless the zimbabwean people by getting Mugabe to step down. I hope that karma will bite Mugabe in the butt and give him the worst death possible. I hope he wakes up one day and realizes what he has done to these innocent people. I hope he also gets cholera and dies of starvation like many people in Zimbabwe have had to die.
February 20, 2009 at 2:58 pm
George Bush is the most sick and demented man on earth. I think that it is sad that Al Gore and John Kerry won 100% fair but still George Bush stole the election. George Bush is responsible for over million people being murdered. I hope that the United States gets more involved now that we have an African American as a president. Maybe now he will care more about humanity. I hope things work out for Iraq and repair the damage that George Bush has done. God bless Iraq and their people, God’s will hopefully bless the Iraqi people by getting imperialism out of their country. We must make sure that European imperialism dies in Zimbabwe as well. I hope that karma will bite George Bush in the butt and give him the worst death possible. I hope he wakes up one day and realizes what he has done to these innocent people in Iraq. I hope he also gets cholera and dies of starvation like many people in Iraq have had to die.
We must remove European imperialism and privilege out of Africa once and for all. The land and resources belongs to the indigenous African people.

I’m really happy, relieved and excited to finally be hearing about Zimbabwe. I am a Zimbabwean who has been in the US for a while now, and have been waiting and hoping One.org would recognize the need to help the country. You have no idea how sad it makes me to have to see everything that is happeneing over there and to think that nobody aside from actual Zimbabweans care. It’s heart-breaking to see what the country has been through and means so much that so many people have taken an intrest in trying to get world leaders to take action. Thank you! I really hope that this effort will not fail and will help restore the country to what it was or at the very least to make it a better place than it is right now.

Who is this day dreamer called Vince, What can the media do to people like Mugabe, demonize him of course. The evil deeds of Mugabe has got nothing to with colonisation. He has been a good friend of the west until he started stealing, killing and abusing people in Zimbabwe. Mugabe does not take criticism, he is an evil, arrogant, one of the worst the world has seen.
February 21, 2009 at 11:20 am
Nyari, European imperialism killed 100 times more indigenous Africans than Mugabe could ever. European imperialism has stole more indigenous Africans land and resources than Mugabe could ever. Europeans still have control and privilege over the indigenous African people…today. You think they are concern because of the love of humanity? The rights of indigenous Africans control of their land and resources? LOL My friend, grow up. Look at history.
Europeans elites killed Africans, teach them to worship in so-called “white” Gods and steal their land and resources. This happen to all indigenous people in every land that Europeans invaded. Zimbabwe is just another control area of Africa that they refuse to let go.
So you are the dreamer. This issue is FAR, FAR bigger than President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai. You may want to put your head in the sand, but the world will be watching this time. European media won’t be able to hide it this time.
Try reading “The Scramble for Africa” White Man’s Conquest of the Dark Continent from 1876-1912, by Thomas Pakenham.
In scarcely half a generation during the late 1800s, six European powers sliced up Africa like a cake. The pieces went to Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Belgium; among them, they acquired 30 new colonies and 110 million subjects. Although African rulers resisted, many battles were one-sided massacres. In 1904 the Hereros…revolted against German rule. Their punishment was genocide–24,000 driven into the desert to starve; those who surrendered were sent to forced labor camps to be worked to death. In a dramatic, gripping chronicle, Pakenham ( The Boer War ) floodlights the “dark continent” and its systematic rape by Europe. At center stage are a motley band of explorers, politicians, evangelists, mercenaries, journalists and tycoons blinded by romantic nationalism or caught up in the scramble for loot, markets and slaves. In an epilogue Pakenham tells how the former colonial powers still dominate the economies of the African nations, most of which are under one-party or dictatorial rule.
- Publishers Weekly
An elaborate buffet spread before us . . . With great skill . . . Pakenham strips the impresarios of imperialism of their veneer of Victorian heroism or reputations for statesmanlike vision, to reveal them as men with bloated and often vicious egos.
- Washington Post Book World
In his excellent study of the Boer War, Pakenham demonstrated his ability to handle a great mass of material and a complicated subject in a fashion that produces a readable, highly credible account. Here he turns those same skills to good effect in the infinitely more complex issue of the European exploitation of Africa, which followed close on the heels of exploration of the so-called “dark continent’s” interior. The result is a sweeping narrative, refreshingly old fashioned in its appreciation of the fact that imperialism did have some virtues, which offers as good an introduction to the “scramble” as has ever been written. Essential for both public and academic libraries.
- Jim Casada, Winthrop Coll., Rock Hill, S.C. (Library Journal)
Panoramic history at its best: a vivid, dramatic account of how five rapacious European powers seized and subjugated an entire continent. Pakenham tells of the scramble for loot, markets and colonial prestige in which Britain, France, Belgium, Germany and Italy carved up a continent of 11 million square miles and 200 million people. 25 maps; 32 pages of photographs.

It is important to keep the AU and SADC’s feet to the fire on ensuring that Mugabe and his ZANU-PF party share power with the MDC in an inclusive fashion. The crisis of Zimbabwe is entirely man-made and should have been avoidable. Everyone must keep the pressure on Mugabe.
February 22, 2009 at 1:54 am
Africa’s dignified and wonderful peoples deserve better than Mugabe and other useless, self-serving, thieving politicians who have protected him.
I fear the solution will require removal of ALL the military and political figures within the country – preferably to the Hague to answer to the World Court for their tragic crimes.
February 22, 2009 at 12:39 pm
I would like for ALL European imperialist powers to paid for the distortion, killing, rape of the indigenous African people. These crimes against humanity has been ignored now for centuries.
The solution will require removal of ALL the European control of the land and resources. They have never answered to the World Court for their tragic crimes.

It is about people, everything is about homo-sapien, everything on this planet is about us and the relations we have with our planet. Yet we are so thick that we keep stuffing it up.
It should not be that hard to life together and with our environment in a sustainable way. But the Mugabes of this world constantly shows how thick we are. The reasons why such people can survive for so long is because we do not have the balls or the will to take them out. We do not need him or his way of thinking.
The human world is in a sad state of affairs at the moment.
It is time to step back observe where we are, create outcomes that will provide us with consequences that lead us and this planet of ours toward sustainable futures.

As a Zimbabwean living in America, it’s heartbreaking to see what our country has become. So many lives are being destroyed and lost… all because of an idiotic and power-hungry dictator. MUGABE MUST GO. African leaders and the African Union as a whole need to be more resolute in their condemnation of Mugabe and their support for Tvangirai and the rebuilding of the country. With a lot of hard work and time, hopefully Zimbabwe can again become the great country it once was.
February 24, 2009 at 6:39 am
America lets join together to help Zimbabwe! Jew, Christian, Muslim, it doesn’t matter we are all human with hearts! Lets end the suffering in the land of Zimbabwe NOW! Mugabe must be dealt with he is killing many innocent lives!! Aids, starvation, genocide should be non-existent in this day and age!!!
February 25, 2009 at 5:23 am
As an Australian and a fellow human being, all people on this planet deserve basic human rights that icludes all of those beautiful people who have suffered at the hands of MUGABE & his regime. It is up to the rest of the world’s leaders, their governments and people power to delete this person from power and give the African nations back their country and laws so the people can get their lives back…..IT IS TIME TO ACT NOT CLOSE OUR EYS AND TURN OUR HEADS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING.

I have been praying consistently for seven years for this tragic nation and will continue to do so. Lord thank you for putting on my heart to “to stand in the gap” in prayer for Zimbabwe. Action taken has been to send Cathy Buckle’s monthly newsletter sent at great risk to her personal safety, out to many in the world. Comfort to me is that many many people are holding up Zimbabwe in prayer. The persecuted people of this once “Bread Basket of Africa” are not forgotten.

Why is Mugabe not incarcerated awaiting a trail for his crimes against his people?
Does the AU need more information, or do his crimes speak for them selves.
Action for Zimbabwe is needed now, with the power of prayer and backing the people in power for peace, change will happen.

I’m a Romanian, and I know that a country gets rid of a dictator (in modern times) only when other countries, stronger ones, are interested in this to happen. We got rid of Ceausescu 20 years ago, but now, most of our resources don’t belong to us anymore, with a great deal of help from our governments, over these past 20 years.
It’s amazing how civilized countries haven’t reacted properly, so far, to what happens there. Makes you wonder.. who is interested in the situation getting worse there, as such things usually lead to a civil war..
I do wish such things could never happen again!

I am a medical doctor in India. I worked in neighbouring Zambia. Robert Mugabe became President some time in 80s and has continued since then and wants to continue by any means. People in Zimbabwe are poor, sick and worried about their daily needs than think even, of change in politics. It is the greed to have power, money which has forced Mugabe to where he is now. there are likes of Mugabe in all walks of life. in India we say and believe ‘there may be delay, but there won’t be darkness (dark period) always’ and that ‘if those days have vanished, these (the current days) also will not prevail (for ever)’. So there is hope and we must not lose heart, we must wait and give a chance to new leadership. I, for one am willing to give my medical services, provided I am looked after for my daily needs-like shelter, food etc. i have lived my life, I am as always for help/charity. But I need my baisc requirements to be ensured.

Great! Carry on with your good work. It’s wonderful and many Christians will be supporting your work with their prayers. Practically all dictators have come to a bad end, and I don’t thing Mugarbi will escape God’s judgment either. Warm love in Christ, Brian Cowell
February 26, 2009 at 11:18 am
Yeah, that’s what the indigenous Africans need, Christians to teach them to worship so-called white gods. What better way to steal more of their land and resources.
Imperialism is alive and well!
February 26, 2009 at 12:10 pm
Vince, having an opinion is one thing, public display of ignorance is another. Study your history. The Christian God — aka the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Jewish God, YHWH — was worshipped in Africa long before he was known to any white people.
February 26, 2009 at 12:10 pm
well i think if these rich people that are going and spending everything they own instead of investing into to things and helping others some people are not gratfull for what they have
February 26, 2009 at 1:27 pm
Aaron, now that is where you have shown your public display of ignorance.
I am fully aware of the African origins of Christianity, and from it’s copying the stories of the ancient African known to you as the ancient Egyptians (but were indigenously Kamites).
Please read: How Africa Shaped the Christian Mind, Rediscovering the African Seedbed of Western Christianity, by Professor Thomas C. Oden.
I’m fully aware of the ancient Africans Hebrews aka the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Hebrew God, YHWH — was worshiped in Africa long before he was known to any Europeans (so-called white people).
However, that has nothing to do with my comment regarding European imperialism, and the teaching to indigenous Africans and other dark hued people to worship the now changed image of those ancient people. The stealing and control of indigenous African land and resources is clearly understood once you know the history of worshiping European god like images.
February 26, 2009 at 1:52 pm
Your comment was “Yeah, that’s what the indigenous Africans need, Christians to teach them to worship so-called white gods”. As you’ve just admitted, the Christian God was worshipped in Africa long before any Christians from Europe stepped foot on the continent.
I met many Christians in Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and South Africa. None of them felt as you seem to. In fact, they were nicest most loving people I’ve met in my life. And I didn’t have to go searching for any bush men (as they called themselves to me) in Zimbabwe to share the love of God with — they came to us asking us to teach them, many risking their lives by walking all night in “leopard country” as I call it. Point is, many of them want to learn of the Christian God are smart enough to realize that he isn’t a white god at all (Jesus was a Jew, by the way).
If more people would live up to the Christian and Jewish principle of loving their neighbor as themselves, what’s happening in Zimbabwe and many other parts of Africa right now would not have been allowed to go anywhere near as far as it has. So don’t judge Christians for responding to Africans’ requests for teaching, aid, etc. By your standards Christians just can’t do anything right — if we help, we’re spreading our “white gods” and if we don’t then we’re just ignoring the need.

Vince: Clearly you don’t know the history of European imperialism in Africa. So you don’t know about how Africans were subjugated to worship European images or brand of Christianity? Not just in Africa, but on a global level. I think you have a lot to learn before you can carry a conversation on the issue.
You said:
And I didn’t have to go searching for any bush men (as they called themselves to me) in Zimbabwe to share the love of God with — they came to us asking us to teach them…
Vince: They had indigenous names. Bushman is not indigenous, but of a term that Europeans decided to call them. Indoctrinating to accept a belief system after imperializing them is not surprising.
You said:

Vince: Once again, this appears to be a subject that you are not aware of your limits. Being a “Jew” today is an Eastern European Jewish appearance test. Jesus, what you would call him was not eastern European Jewish. Being Jewish is a religion, not a ETHNIC or so-called RACIAL designations. The ancient Hebrews were Africans. Today, a Jew can be of any ethnic group.

By your standards Christians just can’t do anything right — if we help, we’re spreading our “white gods” and if we don’t then we’re just ignoring the need.
Vince: I never said that. However, the agenda is very different. There are ways to help and to serve humanity. But the land and resources should NOT be control and stolen from them like it has been in the past and how it continues today. You would rather live in denial. But this denial comes at the expense of African people.

Hello everybody and ONE team:
My name is Carlos and I´m from Latinoamérica (this fact turns me in to an american as well).
Just like Africa, América Latina has been subjugated too… Just like Africa, América Latina is part of the so called ‘Third World’…
I agreed to the ONE´s (and many others organizations all over the world) actions done for helping out the african peoples but the matter is more profound here (and excuse my poor english)…
1- I must consider the other one as my brother or sister.
2- ONE should post its website in other languages.
3- There must be no differences because of religion, race or any other thing at all (at this point I´m not denying the each one´s origin and try to understand where I´m pointing out on)
4- These situations have an origin and people who are getting increased (in many ways) their power in and out of Africa and the whole world.
5- Right now, in and out Africa, the elite is moving right straight toward a goal (which is really hard to understand and figuring out by me).
6- The people who are beneffiting from this (and other situations) have faces and names: show them out. (the world became a mess but there are people who are driving this ship).
7- There´s no more radical flag than LOVE itself to carry out the fight against the misery, poverty, AIDS, war, etc…. LOVE doesn´t lie you, fool you, use you, manipulate you, hurt you, kill you…
No one can kill or hurt in the name of love. But love isn´t naive, nor stupid.
8- Push out ahead the solidarity between poor people and the poor and poorest countries in the world.
A very big hug to everyone who reads this
The world must be a place for everyone not for some fews, but we must conquer our rights and not to beg them on our knees.

Hi
I do believe that happenings in that country is happening worlwide in different scale and magnitude.
All I can say is that, once people and power unite, they forget GOD. and once they forget GOD, they thought they are GOD themselves. They dont consider anybody as like them, with senses and feelings of getting hurt, worried and pains.
Transform the world with love, and compassion by setting ourselves as examples. Do not entertain assistance for something. Even forst worls countries tend and always do exploit other poor third world countries in the guise of helping.
Let us unite for good by letting those in power realize that they are mortals and would likely have an end, sooner or later. They are not immortals.

I was a part of a delegation who visited Harare and Bulawayo when our church partnered with a church in Bulawayo. Our goal was to understand the culture of a country much different from our own. I discovered people who were devoted to God, their church, and the poor. They welcomed us into their homes and shared their faith and their substance with us. We became like brothers and sisters. Two years later, four delegates from that church came to America to capture a sense of who we are. I have not been able to return to visit my friends in large measure because of the political turmoil that has pulled that tiny nation apart. I mourn for my friends who continue to eek out a living and to practice a faith that continues to be filled with hope. My prayer is that the Unity government will unify the people of Zimbabwe, stop the violence, and lead the nation out of the depths of poverty. I hope that I will someday see again my brothers and sisters from Zimbabwe.

Hello everybody once again:
I thank the one who replayed my post.
I just wanted to say one thing… Life is in our hands and in our eyes. The time has come for us to transform out History and Humanity. Loving without becoming stupids. The world must be the place for everyone (including Mother Nature) or must be for no one.
We can do everything to be heard by the so called leaders but we firstly must hear ourselves and change the world and Life with our own hands without expecting somebody else does it.
Che Guevara said something: Fight against any injustice done against any one in any where…
Whether you agreed or not to his ways, the point is clear…
A very big hug from Argentina.

Now is the time. One of the chief problems in the continent is the stance of its possible on major issues…only on few occasions have we had a joint and concerted efforts at tackling our problems. Here is an oppurtunity to say and do something.
It is well

Why is this madman still living in chosen luxury whilst thousands of innocent Zimbabweans are subjected to a life of poverty and disease whilst surrounded by fear and death.
Is it not about time that world took notice and the new leader elected by the Zimbabweans with the help of the world restored the country to its former glory

The truth will set us free!
Authorities in Ivory Coast asked Estonia to hold a tanker that left hundreds of tons of toxic waste in the West African nation’s main city, as another death was attributed to the foul-smelling substance.
——-
On Aug. 19, 2008, a Panamanian-flagged ship owned by a Greek firm and chartered by a leading Dutch commodities broker docked in Abidjan, the country’s commercial capital. The ship unloaded between 400 tons and 600 tons of toxic petrochemical waste, which was summarily dumped in open-air sites around the city and poured into the sewer system.
Within days, people began to show up in hospitals complaining of symptoms ranging from nosebleeds, diarrhea, and nausea to eye irritation and breathing difficulties. So far, 50,000 people have sought medical attention, seven people have died, and dozens more have been hospitalized after being poisoned by the fumes.
—–
You Are Being Lied to About Pirates
In 1991, the government of Somalia – in the Horn of Africa – collapsed. Its nine million people have been teetering on starvation ever since – and many of the ugliest forces in the Western world have seen this as a great opportunity to steal the country’s food supply and dump our nuclear waste in their seas.
Yes: nuclear waste. As soon as the government was gone, mysterious European ships started appearing off the coast of Somalia, dumping vast barrels into the ocean. The coastal population began to sicken. At first they suffered strange rashes, nausea and malformed babies. Then, after the 2005 tsunami, hundreds of the dumped and leaking barrels washed up on shore. People began to suffer from radiation sickness, and more than 300 died. Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, the UN envoy to Somalia, tells me: “Somebody is dumping nuclear material here. There is also lead, and heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury – you name it.” Much of it can be traced back to European hospitals and factories, who seem to be passing it on to the Italian mafia to “dispose” of cheaply. When
I asked Ould-Abdallah what European governments were doing about it, he said with a sigh: “Nothing. There has been no clean-up, no
compensation, and no prevention.”
European Companies Dumping Toxic Wastes Off Somalia Coast And Stealing African Resources
At the same time, other European ships have been looting Somalia’s seas of their greatest resource: seafood. We have destroyed our own fish-stocks by over-exploitation – and now we have moved on to theirs. More than $300m worth of tuna, shrimp, lobster and other sea-life is being stolen every year by vast trawlers illegally sailing into Somalia’s unprotected seas. The local fishermen have suddenly lost their livelihoods, and they are starving. Mohammed Hussein, a fisherman in the town of Marka 100km south of Mogadishu, told Reuters: “If nothing is done, there soon won’t be much fish left in our coastal waters.”
This is the context in which the men we are calling “pirates” have emerged. Everyone agrees they were ordinary Somalian fishermen who at first took speedboats to try to dissuade the dumpers and trawlers, or at least wage a ‘tax’ on them. They call themselves the Volunteer Coastguard of Somalia – and it’s not hard to see why. In a surreal telephone interview, one of the pirate leaders, Sugule Ali, said their motive was “to stop illegal fishing and dumping in our waters… We don’t consider ourselves sea bandits. We consider sea bandits [to be] those who illegally fish and dump in our seas and dump waste in our seas and carry weapons in our seas.” William Scott would understand those words.

Please ensure that the African Union executes its role as guarantor of the new Zimbabwe unity government.
March 6, 2009 at 7:35 pm
The entire world has seen what happens when a handful of greedy people hijack entire nations. What has happened in Zimbabwe is reflected everywhere in varying degrees. But now people all over the globe are aware of the interconnectedness of every part of humanity, and we must never rest until all are free, and all have the rights and privileges accorded as a part of human existence.
The Zimbabwean unity government must be supported by all who believe in justice, first and foremost by the African Union.
March 6, 2009 at 10:27 pm
I have just returned from Matabeleland, the primarily Ndebele and MDC regions of Zimbabwe. While I went full of pro-Tsvangirai fervour and a lucid idea of what I thought needed to happen at the political level I have come back severely disenchanted with Tsvangirai and a great deal more confused. Mutambara makes a far more effective and decisive leader, and I have absorbed the Ndebele people’s general disappointment and frustration with Tsvangirai. Mutambara and fantastic proactive MDC members like David Coltart have far more to offer Zimbabwe.
My notions of Mugabe have also changed. I no longer believe that his death or absence would herald the beginnings of a new Zimbabwe. He is merely the face of his strong and far-reaching government, which will continue in the same direction with or without him.
I will continue to keep one eye focused on Zimbabwe and the new ‘unity’ government, but I expect no great change or progress to come from it.
March 7, 2009 at 12:51 am
What i think as a human being who was created by the almighty and most high God, Mugabe should be removed by force, people of Zimbabwe have suffered alot for long time now.The African Union being the Mother body of Africa should make sure that something is done in Zimbabwe and end the suffering of the innocent souls of Zimbabwe.
For the people Government everything seem to be fine to them cause they can afford three meals a day.

Animal Agriculture is what is causing some 923 million people to starve, this is expected to increase to 1 billion in 2009
While ever we take the food out of the mouths of the wrold citizens and feed it to the animals, we are going to experience people starving on this planet
The only way to feed all, is to adopt organic growing practices, and cut down or cut out the agriculture of animals.
The United Nations released a report in 2006 called Livestocks Long Shadow and addressed the detrimental effects that animal agriculture is having on our planet, however, the meat lobby is so strong on this planet that not many of the world citizens know about it.
Methane from animal agriculture is 18% more potent a greenhouse gas than all the cars trucks and all the cars in the world put together. Nitrous oxide from animal waste products is 300% more potent a greenhouse gas than all the cars trucks and all the transport in the world put together.
These figures do not include de forestation, transport of animals, or refrigeration of carcasses.
Plus the effect on our water. It also takes 20,000-40,000 litres of water to produce 1 kilo of beef, and it has been scientifically proven that you would save more water by for-going 4 hamburgers than by not showering for 6 months.
Also 1 child dies every 6 seconds from malnutrition, so all we have to do is for go that piece of meat and allow that food to reach our brothers and sisters who need it.
Also by stop killing other beings, we will elevate the vibration of this planet.
Once we increase this vibration or frequency we will experience more peace and compassion to all species on this planet.
We need to return to our noble nature.

He {Robert Mugabe} should go.
• He has lost the elections: He is afraid that he and his rich friends would be tried in court for all the wrong doings that they have done and is still doing.
• His party support team taking over farms that have provided jobs and other benefits to the people of Zimbabwe over these years.
• The money that comes in the form of taxes is distributed among his close allies in stead of being used for the sick and needy.
• Wife in Singapore doing her shopping.{Did she ever think that every dollar I spend could feed a person for a day in my beloved country}
• $ 250,000.00 spent on his BIRTHDAY BASH.{while people that he is so concerned about is dieing of hunger and sickness}
Who are the wealthy one in Zimbabwe?……His friends who become richer by the hour.
I can go on and on but my point is how can the international community stand by and watch. These are the reasons why the international community must use force as all negations have failed.
The accident involving the prime minister and his wife {MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE} was no accident.
I will stand for force. HIS MUST GO THEN ONLY ZIMBABWE WILL SHOW SIGNS OF RECOVERY.
Giving aid is not the problem but is it being used for the purpose of the poor and the sick or holding banquets and lavish dressing one would wounder.
International community: Do some thing now before it is to late 5000 + have died. what is the figure you’ll need to act on.
March 8, 2009 at 10:44 am
Why Europeans are REALLY interested in Zimbabwe!
The farms belong to the indigenous African people of Zimbabwe and was stole by Europeans.
What the European elites has done in other areas in the world, they seek to cause divisions between African groups to take down governments, for one that will allow them control and privilege over the land and resources. Check your history!
Who are the wealthy one in Zimbabwe or anywhere in Africa?……Europeans who stole the land and resource from the indigenous Africans.
They will NEVER be honest about what they are doing in Africa…NEVER!

March 8, 2009 at 7:39 pm
While I both agree and disagree with what is being said above, I think what it truly important is that we ALL realize that the issue facing us is not simply that Zimbabwe is suffering. Rather Africa as a whole is being ignored simply because the people in countries and regions like Zimbabwe, Darfur, Rwanda, and beyond are seen as irrelevant to those in power around the world. What needs to change is not simply the horrifying atrocities occurring, it is perception. The people of Africa ARE valuable and above all, they are human beings deserving of the same rights most all Americans and Europeans enjoy every day.
The sheer magnitude of the problem is sickening. For decades, Africa has been the center of civil conflict. Whether it is the displacement of tribes or the genocide in Rwanda or the continual humanitarian crisis in both Darfur and Zimbabwe, these people are being ignored. The truth is Western governments see Africa as a waste of space, a monetary disposal. The value that does in fact exist in Africa is profitable and only beneficial to the particularly few and greedy.
I will say what no one seems to. Because Africans are seen as lesser … that’s why no country is rushing to their aid. For whatever twisted reason, skin color is the real culprit in why insufficient aid still occurs. The notion that those people living in a country where their own government and leadership is so twisted and corrupt only compiles the same ideology that because the people are seen as worthless, no one is putting their needs first. Children die at rates that are truly horrid. Starvation is slaughtering these beautiful and IMPORTANT human beings while countries like the United States suffer from obesity – an obsession with overeating! Explain that to me!
Thankfully, Africa continues to be the center of activists’ agendas but what is sad is that whether it be the G8 or the G20 or the G1000, Africa is still last on the list. These leaders would rather discuss their own financial profits and steals rather than taking responsibility for the downfall of an entire country and ever expanding continental problem.
If you were to see the faces of children and men and women who only want to be viewed as human rather than sub-human, I wonder would we be able to see the beauty and rights they deserve or would you see half a person?
March 8, 2009 at 9:19 pm
I hope that African countries like Zimbabwe can develop faster under the leadership of their “right” government. And the foremost, government should punish seriously those who destroy the forests and other natural resources. And they should pay more attention to care for people and teach people how to make a living. Especally better the situation in slumdog. I am the one from the developing country, too. Wish we could throw away the so-called developing.
March 8, 2009 at 9:33 pm
i may not know much about this, but here is how i got to signing the petition. I have this civic orration thingy at my school, and this year the topic is ” some one who has touched many lives” so now i have to write a 3-5 minute speech about this. i chose Bono vox. aka Paul David Hewson. Why? because he is an amazing person! thats why! he does so much for other people and i think its amazing. He should truly be called a hero. This organization does so much to help the people who need it, and keep up the good work. so i dont even know who on earth is going to read this, but, i wish every one was a nice as the people who support this. Thanks for listening,
S.R.O.

To be honest i am not very familiar with the AU however i am here to help in any way i can so if anyone can give me info as well as advice on how to be of service to the people, i am more than willing to listen as well as help.
March 10, 2009 at 9:23 pm
I would not agree with what you {Vince} said. The farms was not stolen as you have put it.The Europeans were given the choice of owning farms{farms that was bought and not forcefully taken over} dating back as far as 20-25 years or more by the government of Zimbabwe who in turn provided paid employment and not slave labor, their produce for the market and also for export which brings in revenue for the country. As you have stated the the farms rightly belong to the Zimbabwe’s show me of the farms that were taken over how many are flourishing.NONE.They are not capable to do so.Check your history on how the Europeans got procession of the farms why are other countries in Africa do well and some are not that is due to poor governance.I agree the the international community should and must have Africa on top of the list and find a way of resolving the issues but that can only be done with the help of the government that are for the people and not for them selves.THIS IS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AND ORGANIZATIONS.Pull up your socks and do something it is never late forget everything else and provide 100% to Africa.Sending food and medicine is simply not enough but seeing that is reaches the right people is important. If the government is not capable in doing so do it yourself even if it means that armed ascot is required do it. You will face armed fractions who want it for themselves fight them, weaken them by identify the source or country of the arms supply and cutting it off.Its like wanting to cross the greatest desert with nothing but just your clothes on no water or food. Now the people cant trust anyone see that they receive the aid and they will support and trust you and once that happens the country will prosper. It will not happen tomorrow but would take a long time but it is worth it.AFRICANS -EUROPEANS – AMERICANS-ASIANS ETC are all the same just the color of there skin is different but what the have inside is the same as everyone else. They have feelings as of now it is only sorrow turn is around.
March 10, 2009 at 9:39 pm
No Kevin, you are clear confuse. European stole the land and resource from Africans and Zimbabwe is no exception. The farm land was originally the ownership of the indigenous Africans and Europeans stole it and claimed it as their. Check history! Europeans are not indigenous. It is your fantasy that people just gave them their land. Did that happen South Africa as well?
The land boundaries of present day Africa were determined by European elites, at the Berlin Conference of 1884 (CE). Note 2: 90.4 percent of Africa was under European colonial control. This was a political-economic phenomenon that began in the 1500s whereby various European nations, conquered, and exploited large areas of the world. The last century began with almost all countries of the world enslaved under European colonial control whose effects are still felt in the shape of neo colonialism and the exploitative power of the few nations of the world. Slavery became a science in the colonial era in which tens of millions of people were killed or enslaved because of their race and color. These are facts! If you need more evidence it would be my pleasure.

fellow africans let’s pray for zim but i was pissed by angela’s comment by branding mugabe a stupid man considering how he liberated his country.ofcourse everyone has got low points but i think the western world is also exagerrating the crisis in zimbabwe. no more colonialism.stand up africans coz we also need the farms which were previously inhabited by whites.STAND UP AFRICA AND MAY GOD REST GRACE TSVANGRAI’S SOUL IN ETERNAL REST
March 17, 2009 at 5:18 pm
This petition is crap. It’s intent is to harass the African Union, probably, due to the fact that Gadaffi chairs it. I was wrong about this organization ‘ONE’.
March 17, 2009 at 8:41 pm
May Gadaffi have within ten years running water paid for by cities using their people to further the African peoples interest in irrigation, farming, infrastructure, and industry, ending segregationist laws and making the break from sadness to sunshine in their hearts. Best regards,

Zimbabwe is gonna make it eventually.. I believe it. But she will need all the help we can give. Glad to see you’re all part of the victory!!!
God Bless!

Magabe is more interested in power than in the welfare of his people. Many Africa leaders just cannot imagine themselves existing out of power once they get in there.
We have many sit-tight rulers From Cairo to the Cape. Egypt,Cameroon,Libya, to mention a few.
These use repression to keep the populace in their anvil grips.
Mugabe could have believed in the younger generation and handed over to someone new to move Zimbabwe forward.
I visited Zimbabwe in the past,it was a beautiful country ! I remember they exported a special spcie of maize to some African countries. It is very sad to see them now starving.
The question is,are the new farmers Mugabe siezed lands for ready to farm and do they have the knowledge of farming ? He could have done better for his croonies by giving them some of the stolen money he controls and allowed genuine farmers to produce crops for citizens to eat and keep alive.
Mugabe belongs to the archives,
March 19, 2009 at 9:48 am
Well Janet, it’s nice to see what your real concerns are. It’s not about the indigenous Africans, it about the fact that Robert Mugabe took the European stolen land back and returned it to the Africans. In your strange imagination this is not normal to place dark hued people over Europeans, even if it’s African land. The European and Euroepan American media feels the same way. They pretend to be concern and they hide the truth at all cost. But history clearly shows what you are after. African land and resources is the goal in the past and it remain in the future.
If you were really concern with evil in the world, you should look at your own backyard. George Bush and Richard Cheney has caused more death and destruction than any “leaders” in history.
The reasons for the problems in America is greed and corruption. Destroying lives while the corporate imperialist rape the country. What’s interesting is, while these same corporate imperialist will destroy Zimbabwe or any indigenous African nation that won’t go along, they will do the same to the people in America and Europe. Some are just to foolish to understand their mental illness.
March 20, 2009 at 4:08 pm
i understand the zimbabwe people , and i think mugabe one of the greatest dictator in planet . but after ahmadinejd ( iranian president ) & khameneyi ( leader pf iran ) . both people ( iran & zimbabwe ) must try for freedom & democracy . iran more development in economic from zimbabwe but both country have bad economic .
August 31, 2009 at 3:29 am
Ohh Vince,Are you implying it is good for african’s to kill african’s.
How much is MUGABE paying you to write all this & which people are you targeting .
Well the chinese are here now,Lets see
Please keep on writing,it is very entertaining .
I am just wondering whether you are from africa OR have you ever been here.
Since VINCE is not a African name ?
August 31, 2009 at 11:01 am
Well LAU, (whatever that is) you won’t be able to change the subject with me, so give up now. European want control of indigenous African land and resources and they have ZERO rights to it. I am totally against European imperialism, past or present. Your questions don’t interest me.
September 2, 2009 at 8:17 am
Well, i am from Zimbabwe, I am african .YOUR REPLY SHOWS YOU, HAVE NO IDEA WHAT AFRICA IS ABOUT.Let us look at the real life of the african peoples, their aspirations, their dreams.
Give us the why forward. ?
September 2, 2009 at 4:00 pm
I have no interest on what you claim to be. One’s lack of knowledge of a given subject does not indicate that there is a lack of evidence available. There are those in given fields of expertise who have gain greater knowledge because they seek it…like their lives depend on it. So I have chosen, that my life depends on it.
So spare me your foolishness.
