To President Elect Barack Obama,
I can not tell you how inspired I'm feeling knowing you will be our next president. So many challenges face you as a new guy on the block as January 20th approaches. You can count on me to not only to pray for our nation but to include you and your family that God will guide and bless you as President of this country.
I was born in August of 1944, lived in Toledo,Ohio and served in the Air Force. I retired after nearly 40 years of work as a respiratory therapist. During this time, I've seen several Presidents, but your winning the the election as the 44th President is extra special. As it has been said, you eaned it.
Please, do all you can to help all Americans in this tough financial times and please get us out of Iraq. I lived through the Viet Nam years and hate to see any more of our troups die.
In closing, I hope you"ll read this message. Thanks Chuck

last night at a election watch party up in Bellingham, WA with my congressman, the jam-packed room was watching CNN returns on a massively large-screen tv (with a bunch of small ones with local stations for local returns), and when the winner was announced. emotions were running high.

but when the camera switched to the family and friends in Kenya, i cried like a baby. with my husband in another part of the building, the stranger by my side gave me his shoulder which i soaked. he had no idea why, but we were in this together, with the rest of the world.

i know we would have worked triumphantly and humbly with either candidate, and i live in a "purple" household and appreciate the value of finding those single issues we can agree on and letting the rest go. Cindy McCain's trip with the staff was priceless, and the plan to end Malaria would have been awesome and still can be pursued through congress.

soon many new relationships will need to be established for our grassroots lobbying, even tho my congressman is safely re-elected, some of his staff we have worked with for a long time is changing and i will miss them. but i'm trusting my congressman's judgment and that he will continue to take our calls and visits, seriously consider our requests, and more than often weigh in as we ask our request of him, or let us know why he won't support us i couldn't ask for more.

staying close,
