KFC gets in on presidential debate action

KFC announced recently that they plan to post a $20,000 bounty to get world hunger discussed in tonight’s presidential debate. If anyone asks a question or makes a statement on-air regarding world hunger during the debate, KFC will donate $20,000 to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

Excerpts below, full “Market Watch” piece here.

“Global hunger has reached epic proportions,” KFC President Roger Eaton said. “Starvation kills more people worldwide than war, AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. This issue deserves the national spotlight and we hope someone gives this important issue a voice Tuesday night.”

Global hunger has affected nearly 1 billion people due to the convergence of higher commodity and global food prices; increased competition for products that produce energy; severe droughts and floods due to climate change; and increasing demand from growing economies in Asia and South America.

When we the far left understand that AMERICA is now in economic peril. We cannot, alone, be the 3rd world’s farmer. Each night in our OWN country, MILLIONS of children and adults go hungry, yet, you as ONE.ORG believe that it is our solemn duty to feed the world.

    That’s wrong.

We help in a global effort when others don’t help us.

We need to feed our own people.

What don’t you get about that logic?

I am very passionate about the wellness of ‘Our’ worlds children. Immunization must be a priority. We can wipe out malaria when we work together as One. These damn politicans have’nt mentioned or made this vital issue part od either campaign. The poor are at the mercy of what they believe the average citizen of our country wants to hear. Apathy runs rampant.

Dear buildamerica1st, The goal of ONE is to end poverty and hunger all over the globe including America. If you will check out the many organizations supporting ONE, you will find that ending hunger and poverty in America is very much included.

Where and how? I hear/see about Africa, Angola and no mention whatsoever of New Orleans, Galveston, Houston, the Deep South, the Northeast.

You mean well, I know, and this is a terrific feel good campaign … but you forget, or don’t mention, that like the Left, you feel that the government can just print money for your feel good causes while many Americans in the last two days just lost 40% of their hard earned retirement (me included) due to the fiscal wastes of this country.

We can’t support other nation’s problems just for people like ONE to receive another plaque on the wall and another “atta boy”.

You can’t handle the entire world, not when your own own space on the Earth is filled with despair.

A scam bribe by KFC, whose unhealthy food in America at exhoribatant prices is coming out of OUR pockets … not by the grace of KFC.

They need to take its own health more seriously before it bribes people for $20,000 to get a weak point mentioned during a Presidential debate.

Ask the Saudis for money. Ask the Chinese for money. They have plenty of ours. Don’t put it on us when we have enough trouble supporting national businesses as is … like KFC and liberal Ben and Jerrys.

America has thrown trillions of dollars around the globe to “help” end world poverty. I don’t think we can point to a single success. We have redistributed trillions of dollars here at home since “The Great Society” and there is still the same rate of poverty here in America. We need to wake up! There have always been poor people and there always will. Look at how many famous singers, actors and athletes were once rich and now are poor or middle class. It’s the individual and their ability that makes them poor or rich. We can throw all the money in the wolrd at the poor and it won’t do them a bit of good for any extended period of time if they don’t have the knowledge or the drive to do anything with it.

Good question i belive that woman should have ame choice of man they should be our egual. and i sopport abortation i belive thats its the womans choice to termanate the child. the other question if humman trafficking does not happen in our grounds then why care about. let africa deal with the problem not the US problem. let them selfs detroy each other let them selfs fix there own problem. Oh and China is making good busniesses selling guns to africa. I am ok with it. Let the african people kill each other its not the world problem its there problem.

Charity begins at home. Start with the victims of Hurricane Katrina, before trying to pat yourselves on the back by flying halfway around the world to “show off” and “feel good” about stretching nets over Africans. HIV/AIDS is misdiagnosed in many cases:http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/277.html

    Keep Our Commitments

Even in tough economic times, we want to make sure the next president, no matter who that is, keeps his commitment to fighting global poverty.

The total spent on all poverty-fighting programs make up less than one percent of the entire U.S. budget, yet we are saving millions of lives and helping the world’s poorest people break free from crippling poverty. These efforts will be even more critical as the effects of any global economic slowdown are magnified in already struggling countries.

I just took action with ONE to tell my leaders to keep their promises to the world’s poor, and you can too, here:

As a registered republican, let me just say how embarrassed I am of how “the right” is represented on this blog…

The efforts of ONE and its partners have accomplished immeasurable (and measurable) good. Look beyond the dramatic front page of the news.
