Bono's right.

We as a majority didn't choose to "Bail out Wall St." We, as individual families, have growing problems and shrinking dollars to take care of our own families.

And the kid with the ice cream looks like a dorky idiot.

It's extraordinary to me that the United States can find $700 billion to save Wall Street and the entire G8 can't find $25 billion dollars to saved 25,000 children who die every day from preventable diseases.

In 2008, isn't the time right for the United States of America to re-focus attentions and resources to aid and assist the needs of our Domestic poor, and finally begin to give less to those in foreign lands?

First, love the ice cream idea. I'll have to share that with the university where I teach.

Second, Gregory, I think we have seen where putting "Americans First" has gotten us. Not that I don't agree with you that we are in a state of need. We need a lot of help. However,I think when we look at where the banks are, where many people who bought houses beyond their means are, where isolation is getting us, that it can be seen that when we consistently try to only put ourselves first, we end up in some sticky situations.

One example right now that goes against this is that China is doing amazing things in Ethiopia, building up roads, schools, hospitals and more. Guess who is getting first dibs on their natural resources, including oil. China. By taking care of others, they are putting themselves in a better position.

We now live in a world where we are all intimately connected by economics, security, and prosperity. We cannot ignore the plight of others.

Plus, by the middle of September both presidential candidates had raised over $684 million for their campaigns. That is almost as much as the bailout. There is plenty of money, donors just seem to be more interested in politics over people. Let's hope whoever becomes the next president doesn't feel the same way.

Thanks for sharing this with us in the ONE Blog. This is a GREAT idea for all universities to pick up on!

If you have any more specific info on how y'all accomplished this at Sacred Heart, please post it here so that more ONE supporters can become inspi(red) to pursue this idea on their campuses...and elsewhere.

Great to hear from you. All the Best.

As we get ready to elect our next president we have alot of issues to address without doubt. However as a average citizen living in the United States , I feel that WE us Americans are the ones in need here. We have been giving away billions upon billions of dollars a year to foreign countries, while I believe this is a noble cause the fact is our economy is in shambles, unemployment is thru the roof and our citizens are suffering !!! I believe that until we start putting AMERICANS FIRST, its GAME OVER !!!! Why are we trying to quote unquote save the world when we cant even take care of ourselves here ?? Lets face the facts, we are currently in a crisis we dont have the capital to fund all these special interest projects etc. So if you ask me I think we need to be taking care of ourselves, then after we accomplish that , then focus our efforts on other causes. But like I said til we can take care of our own country and our own citizens its GAME OVER !!!
