I was among a group of ONE and CARE members who met with Shirley Gregory, Congressman Brady’s District Director, in their Philadelphia office. She congratulated us on ONE and CARE’s work within Pennsylvania and around the world to fight against global poverty. Ms. Gregory told us that AIDS issues are of extreme importance to her. She assured us of the Congressman’s support of AIDS-fighting PEPFAR and ‘Education for All’ legislation, and said that she personally would support local activities of our partner organizations in any way that she could.

In 2008, isn’t the time right for the United States of America to re-focus attentions and resources to aid and assist the needs of our Domestic poor, and finally begin to give less to those in foreign lands?

It’s extraordinary to me that the United States can find $700 billion to save Wall Street and the entire G8 can’t find $25 billion dollars to saved 25,000 children who die every day from preventable diseases.
