Hello from Pennsylvania!
On Wednesday September 10, 2008 I met with Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll’s Director of Communications Sean Pendrak. During the meeting we were able to discuss how Pennsylvania’s state government can play a role in helping raise awareness for ONE’s initiatives.
Mr. Pendrak also noted that the Lt. Governor is very supportive and interested in our efforts to make extreme poverty history. The Lt. Governor has agreed to participate and be an ambassador for our ONE Vote ‘08 platform.
Below you can read the Lt. Governor’s letter of recognition to ONE. I was humbled and honored to receive this letter on behalf of 88,000 ONE members!

As Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, it gives me great pleasure to recognize the ONE Campaign, for its dedication to bringing together people of all countries, beliefs and walks of life who want to improve the lives of those suffering from extreme poverty and global disease.
Our great Commonwealth has a rich history of great organizations and campaigns whose words and deeds will echo through future generations. ONE truly distinguishes itself with dedicated service to people in many different aspects of healing all over the world and rightly takes its place alongside those men and women.
Under prayerful leadership and love, ONE has grown and thrived. The ONE campaign has shown world leaders that uniting and fighting for health, education, clean water and nutrition saves live. On this occasion, I share the words of Helen Keller, who said,
“Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.”
On behalf of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, I would like to thank the ONE campaign, for its work and service in an effort to reduce extreme poverty. I wish ONE continued success in all future endeavors.
Catherine Baker Knoll
Lieutenant Governor

It reminds me of my all-time favorite headline, a news item about Jodie Foster, seen while working at the New Orleans newspaper: “Foster Has Little Lamb, No More Silence.”
