Jclay, I'm glad to see that you are still with us. I surely agree with your last comment. Hang in there, and eventually we will get people to focus on One and what its goals are and how best to achieve them.

i'm not going to support Sara Palin or Mccain b/c she is not trying to help this country or womens rights. I don't know why she is running anyways they ain't gonna let her nothin while she is in office. If she even gets in. She is a lier. She lied about what Obama said talkin bout he wants to raise taxes. but you know what people don't play fair won't get anywhere. She says she has more experience than obama well she could have fooled me. To me she sounds like she don't know nothin about running a country not even to help run a country. Us staying in war is going to hurt us. There are soldiers who wants to go back home and see their family. There are families who wants them come home. OIL OIL OIL thats all they want. What they need to do is get out of there and focus on the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA which claim to love and if they do then they would do whats right for all of us not just them.

Hi all,

Since its inception, we've pictured the ONE Blog as being a public forum for ONE members, volunteers, and everyone invested in the cause of ending global poverty to connect with one another, share ideas, and ultimately work together to raise awareness and action around the issues we all care about. So far, we are thrilled with the level of impassioned response and activity we've seen and feel honored to be able to facilitate such substantive and provocative discussion.

As you've probably noticed, in recent days and weeks some of that impassioned discussion has, at times, grown a little heated. Because we're all committed to the free exchange of ideas and information, we certainly do not enjoy vigorously monitoring the blog for offensive content or even deleting certain comments when they cross the line. However, it is well within our right to do so and, moving forward, if we notice certain discussions heading downhill, we may feel compelled to intervene. Above all else, we aim to make the ONE blog a forum for discussion that introduces diverse viewpoints, but in order for this to be a productive forum we expect behavior respectful of other readers.

As in the past, we ask only that commenters remain respectful of each other's opinions-even when it's difficult-and do everything within their power to keep the comment thread related to the issue being discussed. You can help us moderate our blogging community by flagging questionable comments here: http://www.one.org/contact/website.html. We certainly value and appreciate everyone's level of enthusiasm and hope to see this blog continue to grow in time. So, as always, comment away!

-Chris

Kelly, that's actually a very valid point and I agree that global poverty shouldn't be the primary issue that people choose a presidential candidate on. I think the issue is not so much that it's our "job" to end global poverty as it's just the right thing to do. I agree that helping to move countries toward free markets and democracy will go MUCH farther to this end then anything else we can do. To quote a great man, "give a man a fish...." well you probably know the rest. Freedom, free markets and democracy is ultimately what will help to end global poverty. Throwing money at corrupt governments will do nothing to this end except help to prop up the dictators.

What makes everyone think it is Americas job to end Global Poverty????? Dont we have enough to take care of here, to preserve our freedoms and right to persue our dreams If every country was a Democracy they could grow to be indpendent like us.....I am appalled that (Global Poverty) is going to influence anyones vote on our Presidential election.

you are Debbie, you are. Those of us who believe in One have looked past the rude comments. We will continue to do so. I don't need you or anyone else to make me feel welcome. Neither will you or anyone else make me feel unwelcome. Concentrate on fighting poverty, leave the personal flip comments out of it.
