If you’re a NYC-area ONE member or are going to be visiting the Big Apple between April 30 and May 4, you won’t want to miss the world premiere of “A Powerful Noise,” co-hosted by ONE and CARE. This moving documentary by Tom Cappello follows four women - Nada Markovic, Bui My Hanh, and Jacqueline “Madame Urbain” Dembele - as each of them go about the daily business of empowering, educating, and seeking justice, weaving through locations in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mali, Vietnam and to tell a tale of hope much larger than the sum of its parts.

It’s showing for four nights only and you can get all the information here: http://www.tribecafilmfestival.org/filmguide/Powerful_Noise.html

I’m going to the premiere on Wednesday. I don’t think ONE is providing tickets, though their post made it seems like they are. I could be wrong though. Can purchase tickets at Tribeca site.

Terrific interest in this film! Chaz is right, ONE is not providing tickets. If the link in the post doesn’t work for you, then the festival box office by phone might, (866) 941-FEST (3378). I plan to attend on Wednesday.

For those who are interested in seeing the film, just click the link provided. It will open a page with a fuller summary where you can purchase advance tickets for each showtime (where tickets are still available). They run about $8 for the daytime shows, and $15 for the evenings.

  12. Anonymous Says:

The email is very misleading. it should not say that it is INVITING ONE members.

  13. Debbie K Says:

Dear Anonymous, I did not find this blog post misleading. I think that people were reading into the post what they wanted to believe.

I would love to see this much interest in the ONE Blog posts about the current world food crisis, World Malaria Day or the World Bank.

Thanks Mark and Brent for answering people’s questions.

Take good care, everyONE. Blessings abound - just look around!

    AS ONE, debbie :)

Anyone who bothers to sign up to a nonprofit fundraiser list like ONE, then complains because the tickets to a film it comments on aren’t FOR FREE is missing the point that we live in a totally decadent state of existence, and the purpose of ONE is to encourage us to recognize that not only do most people have no films, they have no basic amenities. Anonymous is a perfect example of the whiney, spoiled, ungrateful lack of class that is simultaneously annoying in our culture, and hugely insulting to the people who have nothing. I am frankly embarrassed by it…

  15. Debbie K Says:

I couldn’t agree more with Anon.

We must realize that ONE is not here to give us anything. ONE is here to advocate for the world’s poorest people that they may have a semblance of a decent life - or that they may have a life at all.

I sincerely think that with all the media attention and hype that ONE has seen in the last month that a large group of our membership is not quite in consensus with what ONE is all about.

If we are going to encourage all this media hype about our movement to end AIDS and extreme poverty then we owe it to our new members to inform them what we are all about.

WE ARE HERE TO DO AS BONO ASKED US TO DO (over five years ago) - GROW A MOVEMENT FOR AFRICA !

    (not a movement of consumerism & self-centeredness)

ALWAYS FOREVER, ONE - debbie :)

  20. Houston Says:

Listen. Do not have an opinion while you listen because frankly, your opinion doesn?t hold much water outside of Your Universe. Just listen. Listen until their brain has been twisted like a dripping towel and what they have to say is all over the floor.

  21. Philadelphia Says:

Eat a third and drink a third and leave the remaining third of your stomach empty. Then, when you get angry, there will be sufficient room for your rage.
