Shannon,

As a ONE member since its inception in May 2004 and as an activist for Africa going back some 25 years now - I welcome you into the ONE extended and applaud you for all that you have done in the last year to keep your awareness regarding the current challenges that Africa faces.

Those of us who have been in this movement for years need to make room for those who are just coming into their awareness of Africa because we ALL have a part to play in making extreme poverty history.

So welcome, Shannon - you're amongst friends here.~

AS ONE, debbie :)

I bought a ONE t-shirt and several ONE bands last year and donated $150 dollars to Idol Gives Back. In addition to that, I changed my myspace layout and page to promote ONE, (RED) and Idol Gives Back, and started a facebook group that is still going strong. I plan on doing more than that this year. I know what one person can do because I've seen how many people cared enough to join and take it farther on their own. I hope everyone who visits this site tonight takes even a little action on their own and gets others around them involved.

When is Bono going to say something about population control in these poor areas of the world. It would make a good T-shirt. I hope he wakes-up soon to the problem because he is part of the problem. What will happen when the population doubles, then triples, then quadruples as people survive? Don’t tell them God will provide! What God will provide eventually using his strategy is “starvation and death” for all the people and the defenseless animals around them. I feel sorry for the animals.

Josh,

A country doesn't have to be developed to controll their population They have to be informed of the benefits and be willing to do so. Many of the people of the world are not willing to control their numbers because of religion or social norms. You have to admit that it will eventually be their downfall and then nothing Bono does will stop the mass die off the world will see. It's sad because it's avoidable! Just like global warming!

Alan,

The best form of population control is helping a country to develop. The only places in the world where populations are staying the same size or getting smaller are places that are developed. Ignoring the problem actually makes it worse.
