The House just voted overwhelmingly to reauthorize the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) by 308 - 116!!

The next step is a vote in the Senate next week. Stay tuned for updates and how to take action.

perfect new virgina, thanx! great news indeed . . . 5 years, $50Billion. now on to the senate and then signed as a lasting legacy to president Bush. (hopefully child survival act as well during his administration =) as well.)

a great show of support for this bipartisan piece of legislation, and a tribute to the late Tom Lantos and late Henry Hyde indeed.

    stay close,

After coming home from a long day at work, this was the most welcomed news of my day!
Thanks for bringing to our attention, Virginia.

It must be said that, although our movement to end extreme poverty has friends in Congress, many of those supporting programs to end AIDS and extreme poverty in our world are doing so because of the support of ONE members and others in their constituencies that support these programs - constituents that VOTE….

We must always remember that WE, the People, are the ones who control the pursestrings of the U.S. budget. Those in elected office are supposed to serve our desires - not the other way around.

That is the meaning of our Constitution.

Take very good care of each other. Blessings - not just for those who kneel.~

ONE HEART, ONE HOPE, ONE LOVE - debbie :)

its too bad that most republicans voted against it. with all the democrats supporting, i guess we know who our friends are…

…stunning (happily) that not one Democrat voted against — (not so good) all nays are Republican. We need to work on those Republicans voting against, they can all come around like Jesse Helms did. I would suggest everyone check the list on the entry above, and if they are in your district, try to get their support for the future (and send thanks if they voted yes).
