Our friends at Water Advocates compiled this list of upcoming World Water Day events.
Beginning Sunday, March 16 through Saturday, March 22, restaurants will invite their customers to donate a minimum of $1 for the tap water they would normally get for free. These donations to UNICEF will go towards improving access to safe water and sanitation facilities in schools and communities, while promoting safe hygiene practices in more than 90 countries around the world. Plug in your zip code to find restaurants in your city.
World Water Day 2008 will be celebrated by the UN on Thursday, March 20. In New York you can help bring awareness to the sanitation crisis by “standing up for those that can’t sit down.”
PSI will host a World Water Day discussion about their Safe Water Programs, the successes and challenges, and the way forward on March 20 from 3:30-5:00 PM. If interested, please RSVP to akhanna@psi.org.
Celebrate World Water Day with Water For People on Friday, March 21. Raffles and speakers-including Amy Hart – Filmmaker, WATER FIRST-will make the evening one to remember.
If in Louisville, KY, join Edge Outreach on March 21, 2008 for a night of music, water and film. Join speakers and hear stories of what is being done for those without water and sanitation.

The discussion will be held on World Water Day, March 22.

Thanks ONE so much for posting this summary of some of the various projects and programs that will be taking place around the world for World Water Day & Week !
As I had mentioned in the previous post about clean water sources & their PIVOTAL role in raising the standard of living & development in the world’s poorest regions, especially for the women of those areas, I have had a lifelong interest in this topic, spanning some thirty years.
I was most heartened that several restaurants in my area (Austin TX) are participating in the Tap Project to support the U.N.’s efforts to bring more sanitation to some of the world’s poorest regions. I will definitely be participating in this effort!
Have a beautiful day, my friends. Please don’t let it get away. ~

(CONT) FOR EXAMPLE , or soldiers are discussed today as being in post traumatic stress and america wants to know what democrats will do for it. HOW about socialize the medicine for them and blame thier efforts as worthless.!! THE stress is from democrats slowly knocking them subliminaly and hippocritically by claiming that the war is “ALL FOR NOTHING” when really it is “ALL OR NOTHING” !!! ALL for freedom. THE SELF ESTEEM of our troops is WHAT is DAMAGED here!!!!! THEY are the REAL HERO”S of AMERICA!!! not a delegate , actor or politician. THE VOICE is, LIKE LENNON and LUTHER WE need to spread civilized peace before , but then alongside wealth .

Clean drinking WATER is a WORLDWIDE CRISIS! It affects millions to the extremities of death and is an unfortunate and unacceptable occurance in today’s world. Our BODIES are 90% WATER, and cannot properly function without clean, unpolutioned water to maintain it. Can you imagine the EARTH not having an ocean? That is the equivilent to each individual’s body ratio of water. Many diseases stem from dirty sources that are the only choices for Africans. Loss of eyesight caused from parasites living in the human body can occur, just to mention one.
World Water Day.net hosts virtual walks for people who don’t live near a major city hosting a water day walk. I didn’t sign up this year, but hopefully it will be a great resource for next year for you all!

Hello fellow ONE member,
I appreciate Bono speaking out on behalf of the worlds poor and sick. Don’t forget that the number one question asked Obama was “Will you legalize marijuana?”. Think about the benefits that medical cannabis can have on the millions of suffering Africans. I am very disturbed when I hear that UN Police are using international aid money to persecute cannabis growers in Africa and destroy such an important beneficial crop. Bono has enormous influence on UN leaders, and some of the world’s most powerful people. Please don’t think for a moment that by removing cannabis the UN is in any way helping the poor people of Africa or any other continent. This is a grave injustice, and I’m sure the sick and dying Africans effected by such laws would agree. The cannabis plant can help to provide food, clothing, shelter, safe medicine, and eco-friendly fuel. If the One Campaign really wants to help the poor, we should let them grow hemp, and if we must get involved, help them succeed in taking advantage of the many benefits of the hemp industry.
I hope Bono keeps up the good work, and helps to stop the bad work.
Thanx. www.nycamp.org
