It is 4am and I have just returned from the historic midnight vote at Dixville Notch, that opens Primary Day here in the Granite State!

Over the past year, ONE members have been hitting the campaign trail to make sure that our leaders know that Americans care about saving lives in developing nations the world.

We have grown an authentic grassroots non-partisan movement here in New Hampshire that includes prominent business leaders, political figures, students, church-goers, and even veterans uniting as ONE to save lives. I have seen Republican ONE members out at Democratic candidate events, and Democrat ONE member crossing party lines to make it to the Republican events. And through it all, ONE has helped to represent the poorest of the poor with the respect and dignity that they deserve.

We have rallied the public, and all of the campaigns around US efforts to fight AIDS, malaria, and extreme stupid poverty. What was once unknown – today, ONE shirts and ONE bands have become common sights on the campaign trail. And you can see and hear our impact in the stump speeches and the town halls of many of the candidates.

Never before have the citizens of New Hampshire engaged the presidential candidates on issues related to global poverty to the degree have with ONE Vote ‘08. We have opened a greater dialogue in the public arena and have made a lasting impression that will remain in New Hampshire even after the primary.

We have now reached Primary Day and the only thing left for ONE members to do, is the thing that the 17 voters of Dixville Notch did at midnight this morning…vote for the best person they believe should lead the United States, taking pride that we ONE members have put in a great and magnificent effort to make room for the poorest of the poor in our political process.

All ONE members from across the country should be proud of what we have started. From signing the “On the Record” petitions, to calling the campaigns, to talking with voters and candidates, and even writing fellow voters in Iowa and Caucusing for ONE. Our work as ONE members is not done, and it will take continued support throughout the year, but the seeds of our grassroots movement have taken root in the New Hampshire Granite.

We all have it, and New Hampshire goes today…ONE Vote ‘08 to make poverty history!

for all the ONE member’s out there – you may have seen my face all over this blog, but you need to know that matty has been there working many times more hours than anyone making sure that all the volunteers here in the granite state had what they needed; from “band’s” to ‘t’s, and most of all tremendous, enthusiastic, encouragement, and support!

way to go the final mile in this primary mrb – but you better rest up there will be more election cycles to influence in the near future!
