2. sammi Says: December 18th, 2007 at 5:53 pm CNN is showing this a number of times a day, i think i saw it on Headline News too. but it’s an awesome ad, and i took note both my son and my husband thru sheer curiousity when they saw the ad just stopped and watched before they responded it was ONE, then cheered. that is great. good work everyone. i’m proud for you what you’ve done here. stay close, sammi in seattle =)

As have already been mentioned, I too am seeing the commercial quite a lot on the TV and I barely watch TV! I think that this is a good thing to try - the only other attempt that ONE has made into the mainstream media was with the “click” ads of two years ago. Those ads DID get our movement to make extreme poverty history more publicity so it’s time that we try running ads again in the media. Still, I caution us on ONE thing. We can’t sit back on the strength of our media presence and think we are doing enough to get our message out there to the American people. We are a grassroots movement and thus need to be out amongst the grassroots for measurable results. I have already planned out my outreach schedule for ONE/(RED) for 2008 and already have at least one outreach booth scheduled EACH MONTH next year at an event somewhere in my community (Austin TX) !! While y’all are organizing on a nationwide basis for ONE, we need to be organizing for ONE in our communities for greater results for our movement to make extreme poverty history. Having visited several countries in Central America in recent years, I can say with some authority that folks in the United States cannot understand how poor the average person in a third world country really is.
