Filibuster of Dorgan-Grassley Amendment?

There has been a threat to filibuster the Dorgan-Grassley Amendment to the Farm Bill. Now the amendment needs 60 votes instead of 50, which will make it much harder to pass.

Currently the vote is scheduled for 9:15 AM tomorrow. Please take a moment to call your senator now.

Capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121

Sample phone script:

I am from [location]. I support farm bill reform. As a voter and member of the ONE Campaign, I urge Senator [name] to vote ‘YES’ on the Dorgan-Grassley Payment Limits Amendment. This amendments provide real reform that will help struggling farmers in America and around the world.

Thank you.

I highly recommend calling your Senators and asking them to support this amendment. Farm Bill Reform ties in with the mission of ONE in that limiting subsidy payments to farmers who are overproducing certain crops (namely cotton, corn, wheat, rice) will help farmers in developing nations to compete in their own market. Currently major farm corporations are over-producing groups and flooding (dumping) their crops overseas & selling @ a lower price–which keeps local farmers from being able to compete and earn a living. By passing the Dorgan-Grassley spending limits amendment, farmers will be discouraged from mass-producing for subsidy payments & less dumping will occur.
