Great to see that our cause is receiving near identical rhetoric from all the candidates. I especially liked the rehearsed, telepromted response from the Senator from New York.

Please dig deep within yourself and you will come to realization that it’s time for change.
We can not live like this anymore! Take a stand for family, friends, neighbor, and ask them
if they’re in need of help! Question is are you starving? No more, No more, I say no more!

I am *THRILLED* to be a part of The One Campaign. I really do hope the politicians aren’t being namby pamby. I do know they DO see the t-shirts and the wristbands and it registers. It’s reassuring on some important levels we’re not letting up and we’re not letting them forget our cause.
@David Lane - Man, thanks for the emails. I really appreciate hearing from you, getting the skinny on our progress and hearing the cadence we’re all marching to. Keep up the fantastic work!

Everyone seemed to be speaking from their hearts except for one candidate…
Does Hillary Clinton really need to read from a script to talk about the One Campaign?
December 20th, 2007 at 3:14 pm
We should all be proud of the work we have done for such a noble cause. However, let’s not let the wonderful words that the candidates spoke just be talking points. We need guarantees.
I hope what they are saying is truly real because it gave me goosebumps hearing them all speak about us and our work.

We are one whether you believe it or not. There are no borders in the world only in our mind. If we know disease can come and go where ever it wants why not lets all in our ONEness come together to send LOVE and the POWER of ONE LOVE around the world. POVERTY SUCKS PEOPLE DON’T.
ONE LOVE

It’s nice to hear that the candidates are proud of the work ONE.org is doing, but not one of them addresses how they will address the problems of extreme global poverty and disease. They look like they’re doing an ad for ONE instead of answering the question, ” WHAT will you do to help the people ONE represents?” Very frustrating. How can we rank these politicians on their commitment when they just play the crowd. Yes, it’s great to be acknowledged, but what do they really believe and what will each of them actually DO?
December 20th, 2007 at 3:31 pm
No, the candidates do not discuss the specifics of what they will do, but both Barack Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s responses can be compared in this thread: http://www.onevote08.org/ontherecord/compare.html?c=3&c=13&submit.x=55&submit.y=13&submit=Compare%21
My own feeling is that, though both say the same words, more or less, only one seems to believe those words and set the goals as a priority. Watch the video presentations of each of them and judge for yourself who is just reading words and who is speaking from the heart.

There should not be more talking but ACTION
December 20th, 2007 at 4:16 pm
All i really want to do was help somebody.May it be anybody in need, that’s what I want to do.
Unfortunately I am not in the position to help with everything yet, due to my age. But ONE has allow me to contribute little bits to help them save people.Which is really very nice:)
ONE sets a GREAT example on young people, and I am a proof of that.
I hope the people in poverty know that people DO care, and their situation won’t last forever.

The politicians backing of one.ogr’s goals is admirable but must be translated into specific actions which are endorsed and funded by our government, as a whole. Meantime, there is much one individual can do to fight hunger and global poverty.
To paraphrase former President Jimmy Carter, “we cannot expect peace in the world when 1/3 are rich and 2/3rds are hungry.”
Visit my site www.peacepoem.net to spread the Peace Prayer and Click to Donate Free Food and Medicine, which is distributed by America’s Second Harvest and Mercy Corps, worldwide.
Over 500,000 servings of food have been raised in this manner by the affiliated organizations. The vitamins, medicine and innoculations prevent blindness, fight disease and premature death.
One plus one plus one adds up. and together we can make an enormous difference in the lives of hungry and impovrished children.

Congratulations to One.org and all of the ONE FAMILY MEMBERS for confronting all the candidates on the real human issues of our times and for putting together such an AMAZING clip as well as website. You all, in the technical department should receive more than commendations for the amazing job you have done.
I have been a ONE supporter since the very first time I heard Bono speak.
(How could anyone in their right minds disagree with the things he has had to say to the world?)
Unfortunately, at this time of year, there is still much suffering and pain going on in the world. We all have a moral, human, responsibility to give of ourselves as much as we can to assist the global community. Not to make war and strife with it.
What our Candidates have to say regarding the “humanistic” facet of our world has everything to do with where MY vote will be placed in the coming elections and rest assured that there are a whole lot more JUST LIKE me that is going to be paying attention to what they have to say.
We must get back to a “ONE WORLD” approach and share the world in a compassionate fashion instead of waiting to see the bombs of destruction on the horizon.
KUDOS ONE.ORG!
Happy Holidays to One Family Members, worldwide!

I’d like to second what Kerry says, December 20th, 2007 at 3:18 pm.
I’d like to see someone with heart say something rather than just play ‘we love ONE, oh your so great’ (which you are of course).
I think that come this election time we’ll need to judge very carefully to see who of the candidates really does see that we, the world, are ONE and that we need to treat each other with more love.
peace,
mi

I’ve volunteered with RESULTS for 20 years and Hillary Clinton has been a key voice in the fight against poverty for years. The first microcredit program in the U.S. as in Arkansas when Bill Clinton was Governor and Hillary was a force in bringing microcredit to the U.S. She is very knowledgeable on the issues and a stand for the end of hunger and poverty - no matter what many of the other candidates say, they will not lead the way in these areas!

There is a lot of lip service eminating from all the politicos praising the work of One.org but who will stand and deliver? I think even W would be on this bandwagon without any intention of doing anything but get votes. Which candidate is truly basing a campaign on fighting poverty and which candidate would be held most closely to his campaign wishes, promises and designs? Which candidate really has the best grasp of this situation and is aligned most closely with the ideals set forth by One? If you said anybody but John Edwards you just haven’t been paying attention. Remember, that’s how we got in the mess we are in now. Read and educate yourselves as much as you can before you vote. It’s your duty to make an informed decision. The world is counting on it.
Thank you.

Does it really matter whether someone uses a script or not? What’s really important is the commitment these candidates are making. They all indicated they are aware of the presence of ONE and it’s importance but what do they plan to do? I didn’t hear any candidate give us anything specific about what they will do.

Please to go the On The Record microsite to see the candidates’ plans!

“Of the people and for the people”; that’s the America I want to see again. I’m tired of a government that’s the best lobbyists can buy and career politicians who have forgotten the meaning of being a public servant.
I’m just one small voice; a middle class American struggling each month to pay the bills. I work hard to teach students with learning and behavior challenges. But I find my paycheck barely covers monthly expenses and medications I need as a breast cancer survivor and now a diabetic from my chemo treatments. But I’m a fighter, and I’m looking for those same qualities in our next President.
I want a President who will be a champion for the poor and middle class, controlling the corporate greed of predatory companies that take away American jobs driving many to bankruptcy. I want a President who will restore our image in the world and faith in the dollar. Even though I’m just one small voice, I know it is my duty as a citizen to speak out.
Do you feel the same way? Do ou want to fight for change in our country? The time is now; time for average citizens to band together and take action. Get involved. Give contributions or at least vote for a candidate who can turn the tables and bring about real change.
I know in my heart the man for this job is John Edwards. He has the experience, integrity and spirit to take on the tough issues. John Edwards understands the needs of the average citizen. He is committed to closing the gap between the rich and poor, bringing back jobs, decent housing and affordable medical care for all Americans.
Please won’t you join my one small voice to become a unified roar and support John Edwards for President? Join the battle. Together we can make our government once more that is “of the people and for people!” America needs John Edwards!!

It is nice to be a part of an organization that I believe in and to have it recognized by our presidential candidates. It is rewarding to spend a couple of minutes of my time at least once a week to try to do something for the bettering of our world whether it is voting on issues such as how funds should be allocated or simply signing my signature to back a common interest in ending poverty or worldwide health concerns. It feels terrific to be a part of the one organization.
