On Sunday morning at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire Senator John E. Sununu gave remarks at a Global AIDS forum.

I bundled up and made the trip to Hanover with some ONE members to hear his speech. Many ONE members know Sen. Sununu best for his work to restore and secure over a billion dollars of poverty reducing and life saving funds for the developing world during the 2007 Congressional CR process. He has also been a co-sponsor of the Jubilee Act and has worked with both Republicans and Democrats to fully fund the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

After the event, just before he left campus, I caught up with him with Dartmouth student, and NH ONE Ambassador Greg Boguslavsky who thanked him for his efforts and gave him a ONE band. Check it out:

You can also check out some of Sen. Sununu’s speech, where he talks about how he first got started working on issues of global health and debt relief when he was in the US House of Representatives with his colleague Rep. John Kasich. During his speech, Sen. Sununu highlights the historic PEPFAR initiative that now has over 1.3 million Africans on life-saving AIDS medication. Sen. Sununu even talks about efforts to fight global malaria and the importance of the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
