This week, as ONE members continue to urge all the presidential candidates to go “On The Record” by submitting, in writing and on video to ONE, their plans on extreme poverty, we’ve created a new widget that you can place on your personal website to help increase your impact.

Just go here to pick up the On The Record widget, link to our petition page, and some sample text. The widget has a built in petition form, so people can join the “On The Record” campaign directly from your blog, MySpace page or website.

Why are we only shooting for 40,000 signatures? I remember just over a year ago we were able to generate 200,000, which is still less than 10% of those who have signed up to support ONE. It also seems that we are not signing up more people as quickly as we were early on. Maybe using committed volunteers would help. You could set up an e-mail tree of sorts. Depending on the size of the state you could have one or more state volunteers, then two or more below that person until you had each volunteer responsible for maybe 100 or so e-mail address. People who sign up people can also make sure that those who signed up have made it into the system. Just make a copy of the sign up sheet before sending it in.
