With the 2015 deadline for the Millennium Development Goals quickly approaching, the United Nations has partnered with Google and Cisco to create an online monitor to chart the world’s progress.
The monitor includes a map where you select 1) a measurement for one of the 8 MDG goals, 2) a country, and 3) a year.
For example, I chose the stat “percentage of population between the ages of 15-19 years old living with HIV,” the country “South Africa” and the year “2005,” and found out that 18.8% of South Africans were living with HIV in 2005.
Next, I chose the stat “percentage of children under the age of 5 moderately or severely under weight,” the country “Mali,” and the years “2000-2004,” and found out that in 2001, 33.2% of Mali children under the age of five were moderately to severely under weight.
You can check it out the map and roam the whole site here

Thanks so much, Virginia, for posting this IMPORTANT online tool that we have to keep track of the fulfillment of the MDG’s as we get closer to its proposed completion date of 2015.
I encourage everyONE who is reading this post to continue to visit the link as often as possible that Virginia has given us to keep up to date with this important info.
As we get closer to next year’s presidential election, we need to be as informed about our issues as we can be.
BTW, I’m back in the ONE blog after celebrating ONE of my BEST B-DAYS ever last Friday. I missed y’all, but that autographed picture of a certain Irish rock star that I was given kept us near in Heart. (smile)
Take very good care, my friends. Blessings are always around. ~

Hello fellow ONE member,
I appreciate Bono speaking out on behalf of the worlds poor and sick. Don’t forget that the number one question asked Obama was “Will you legalize marijuana?”. Think about the benefits that medical cannabis can have on the millions of suffering Africans. I am very disturbed when I hear that UN Police are using international aid money to persecute cannabis growers in Africa and destroy such an important beneficial crop. Bono has enormous influence on UN leaders, and some of the world’s most powerful people. Please don’t think for a moment that by removing cannabis the UN is in any way helping the poor people of Africa or any other continent. This is a grave injustice, and I’m sure the sick and dying Africans effected by such laws would agree. The cannabis plant can help to provide food, clothing, shelter, safe medicine, and eco-friendly fuel. If the One Campaign really wants to help the poor, we should let them grow hemp, and if we must get involved, help them succeed in taking advantage of the many benefits of the hemp industry.
I hope Bono keeps up the good work, and helps to stop the bad work.
Thanx. www.nycamp.org
