Sharon,

I think that any poor person in the U.S has far more opportunities to suceed then in these nations the Jubilee act will help. Yes there are poor poeple in the U.S but a border-less global village view is the future.

All this bill will do is ensure the US builds up more debt, which it is in itself not aiding the "real" hungry of this nation. For these countries that owe debt to America and other nations will continue to progress in the same direction even without owing another nation. Why then do countries not offer to themselves use the money that is owed them to provide food growing technologies, good education (not the kind offered by religious organizations) and establish guidelines for the use of funds excluding politicians and leaders (who always get their aid first.

I work in the United States, have seen the homes without running water (ie no useable toilets), empty refridgerators and curdled milk in infant bottles. We must aid ourselves before condeming others unwilling to aid their people. ONE I though t stood for aiding countries in need not using extreme measures to protest useless bills that will only improve the political promponents in the nations of poverty - including the US (as seen after storms = the wealthy are already rebuilt and reestablished while thousands remain homeless and hungry.

If you want to help poverty - remove the cause! Just like in Tennessee trying to aid the children in medical care - instead thousands of people driving mercedes has Tenncare and many children are refused, many elderly are refused and many sick are refused. This will occur in any nation where politicians are for the rich and have no idea what real poverty is, or how it affects lives. Stop having children when poor and start trying to work towards raising the ones you have not relying on government aid but learning what works - US dollars, all dollars should aid in these efforts.
