On Wednesday, President Bush tapped Doctor, former Senate Majority Leader, and ONE Vote ’08 Co-Chair, Bill Frist to serve on the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) board.

The MCC is U.S. government program that rewards countries that do right by their citizens through long-term, larger than typical grants. Beyond working as an incentive against corruption, the process is additionally unique because it is transparent and citizen led.

“I’m delighted at the opportunity to serve on a board that reflects the absolute necessity of having transparency and accountability tied to our developmental foreign aid,” Frist said.

The U.S. Senate must vote to confirm the senator’s new MCC position.

I would also like to congratulate Mr. Frist on this nomination. His presence on the MCC Board would be a GREAT push forward for our attempts to get the MCC fully funded by Congress.

PLEASE let us all know what we can do to support Mr. Frist so that he obtains this position on the MCC Board. ( Maybe a call-in to our Congressional Representatives when the time is appropriate?)

Take very good care of each other, everyONE. Blessings always.

ALWAYS ONE in the Spirit, debbie :)

It seems like Dr. Frist has found what he really wants to do, working with One vote 08, Save the Children with the “Survive to five” program, teaching at Princeton, and now serving on the board of MCC. His work will be invaluable to all of these organizations. I can’t imagine that he will have much trouble getting confirmed by the Senate. I think he is highly respected by both Democrats and Republicans.
