After many College of Charleston students attended the Democratic debates and volunteered for the ONE Campaign, we decided we’d like to help the whole College of Charleston’s student body show their support for this historical initiative by making our campus a ‘Campus of ONE.’

I worked with fellow student Russ Richardson (student senator of our school’s Student Government Association) and Jesse Pruitt (ONE volunteer coordinator) to help make it happen. We ended up drafting a resolution, SR-F2007-001, which now stands as the first resolution to be debated of the 2007-2008 academic year. Our Student Government Association was founded in 1922 and will be celebrating its 85th Senate Session this fall. In making history with one of the oldest organizations at our college, we’re continuing to help make history by fighting the AIDS pandemic and extreme poverty around the world.
