We’ve always known that ending poverty would be no small feat and we’ve been betting that a couple of strategic decisions – like bipartisanship and leveraging technology – will help us turn the pages of history a little faster. Later this week, a few of us from ONE, Weldon Kennedy, John Ryan, Aaron Banks, our CEO Susan McCue and I, will head to Chicago for YearlyKos, the annual superbowl for the progressive netroots.

At the conference, Susan, Bread for the World’s CEO David Beckmann, Rwandan turned U.S. citizen and AIDS lobbyist Anathalie Sugira and FireDogLake blogger Christina Siun O’Connell will speak on a global poverty panel (Aug 4, 9:15am) to urge the 2,000 new media-savvy attendees to become leaders of the cause.

We’ll keep you posted as the event draws closer.

Thanks ONE for posting this – I wish y’all the best at the YearlyKos convention this Friday!

It has long been my contention that our most “natural” allies would out of the Progressive community which has historically supported our issues such as fair trade, debt cancellation and increased development assistance.

But because of our willingness to work with people from all political viewpoints and political parties to advance our movement to end extreme poverty, some in the Progressive community have distanced themselves from us.

This is an EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY TO REBUILD OUR BRIDGES with our Progressive brothers and sisters and make our movement to make extreme poverty history STRONGER going into the Presidential elections next year.

I only wish that I could be there with y’all.~

Take very good care, everyONE. Blessings – not just for those who kneel.

ALWAYS ONE in the Spirit, debbie :)
