Packed!

What if you had an event where the real host of the event – in this case the poorest people in the world that struggle and live on less than a dollar a day – were not in attendance? Well I will tell you that here in New Hampshire – everyone would show!

I just got to the office and the place is packed! We have Republican and Democrat leaders crammed in the room together, mothers with their kids, all different campaigners, community activists – all coming out today to show support for the world’s bottom billion.

The whole place erupted in applause when Jack Oliver and Mike McCurry came in. You cannot even move in this place! People have ONE bands, ONE stickers, we even have ice cream and it is a good thing as the air conditioning unit is on overdrive.

Our New Hampshire state chairs: former democratic party leader Joe Keefe, and former RNC Committeeman Rich Ashooh just spoke and talked about some of the great works that both parties have come together over the past few years to achieve in the developing world.

Now Jack Oliver is talking about PEPFAR and how over a million people are alive today due to our nations efforts. Something all of us should be proud of! Mike McCury is talking about the history of ONE and the many different partner organizations that came together to form the ONE Campaign.

They are both talking about the movement of Americans that are realizing just how many people we can save in the developing world. Both Jack and Mike are talking about how ONE Vote ’08 allows us, the voter – the American public – the opportunity to make sure that the next President of the United States knows that fighting AIDS and poverty is a priority!

From looking around this room, it is clear that the time to make poverty history is now. ONE Vote ’08 is our chance to make a better and safer world for all and save people around the world.

This has been an incredible event and it is very clear that here in New Hampshire, people are realizing what can happen when we come together as ONE! Today was for the poorest people on Earth. This is why Jack Oliver and Mike McCurry came up, this is why Joe Keefe and Rich Ashooh came together, this is why so many many people showed up! This is about the poorest of the poor, and it all starts with you!

Proud to be an American today, proud to be ONE Vote ’08!
