Word From Kenya

Active ONE member and good friend of mine, Loretta Raiford, is currently in Kenya during her three-month trip to Africa. She planned the trip herself and will be volunteering at several different NGO’s while she is there traveling through Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.

She wears her ONE wristband every day, which you can see in the pictures of her cutting sukumawiki (kale) and picking through beans. She has already worked at a clinic and orphanage.

She has a blog about her experiences, which is filled with funny, heart-breaking, inspirational stories but most of all it is completely her real and touching accounts of her time in Africa. The post that seems to best detail her experience is “The Hardest Working Woman I Know.” In it she explains a typical day of work at the orphanage.

Great work, Loretta. Keep writing and we can’t wait for you to return home.
