The ONE Campaign and Bread for the World teamed up at the Cornerstone Music festival in Bushnell, IL last week to spread the word about ONE Campaign and the fight against extreme poverty and global disease. Annie Gill-Bloyer, ONE Faith Outreach Organizer with Bread for the World in Chicago, led workshops on faith and advocacy, the ONE Campaign, and opportunities to make trade fair in this years Farm Bill reform. Participants were readily engaged in the topics and wrote letters to their members of Congress about increasing poverty-focused development assistance and about broad reform of the Farm Bill.
The “ONE Click” video on the ONE campaign was also featured on the main stage several times every night to let the 10,000 people in attendance know how they could get involved in the fight against extreme poverty. In addition, ONE and Bread volunteers worked the crowd to gather more than 500 signatures on the ONE declaration – including a signature from the mascot from one of the other booths!
Nick Steven, a ONE and Bread volunteer in Illinois, had this to say about volunteering for ONE at the Cornerstone music festival. “At the heart of the ONE Campaign is Love. The developing countries of the world need an additional ONE percent of the Federal Budget, but they also need our Love, and we need theirs. Signing the ONE declaration is not just a statement to our politicians; it is an act of compassion towards the individuals who live in extreme poverty.”
The ONE Blog is a daily log of the anti-poverty movement. The site is operated by ONE staff, with frequent contributions from volunteers, members and partner organizations.
The ONE Blog updates readers daily with the latest in global development news and analysis and what ONE members and our partners are doing around the world to influence world leaders in the fight against global poverty.

this means a lot to me, ONE at Cornerstone. Jesus People USA was a second home to my husband and i in chicago, and when working in Christian radio there. i worked and attended the first few festivals. an infant i held at the first festival now has an infant of her own!
but what a perfect opportunity for Bread to set up an offering of letters. festival moments can make for slow afternoons, an absolutely perfect setting.
thanx for sharing this annisa, the memories to me are both a blessing and breaking my heart. someday i hope to return.
stay close,
sammi =)
