Nevada had an incredibly successful ONE Vote ‘08 launch on Tuesday.
We began the day with a press conference at the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy, and the event was spearheaded by Congressman Jon Porter and Congresswoman Shelley Berkley. Both did an amazing job highlighting how the goals and objectives of ONE appeal to everyone from every walk of life. Both spoke about the need for voters to put aside partisan differences and focus on the amazing change America can make throughout the world by eradicating extreme poverty.
Also speaking at the press conference were; State Senator Steven Horsford, Aid for AIDS of Nevada Executive Director Caroline Ciocca, Pastor Ben Parker from The Crossings, Ambassador of ONE Jenna Morton of N9NE Group, and activist and founder of the ONE Nevada Yahoo Group Adam Bellamy.
Choir members from Gladys Knight’s Saints Unified Voices sang two musical selections. As they closed the event with the second musical selection, all 50 attendees were standing and clapping along as they sang about the need to come together and relieve the suffering felt by families throughout the world bound by extreme poverty.
Jenna Morton and the N9NE group were kind enough to open there doors at Moon in the Palms to the public later that evening so that everyone could socialize and learn more about ONE Vote ’08. We had more than 300 attendees attend, sign the declaration, and commit themselves to share the message of ONE Vote ’08 with their friends.
It was a truly inspiring day and we are excited about carrying this momentum throughout the year as presidential candidates continue to campaign in Nevada and all the way through to the Republican and Democratic caucuses on January 19th, 2008.
