It was a beautiful morning and instead of hopping on the ps2 or settling into the cartoon network my boiz agreed to come with my wife aqnd myself to help the bottom billion... we arrived about a half hour early in order to make sure we met as many of the staffers as we could and assured oursleves of prime seats for the speech. After talking to the assembled press and availing ouselves of the coffee and pastry we settled in for what was a livley stump speech by Senator Dodd. Occasionally Representative Carol Shea Porter added her thoughts and when she did Senator Dodd pointed to my boiz and motioned to his chest making a circle and gave a big "thumbs up" indicating to all that he knew that the ONE logo was a source of pride to him. after the speech when we met with him for our photo op he made sure to ask if we noticed his gesture and said how great the kjids looked in their "t's" itwas then when my wife Christine 'banded' him (again) (go team New Hampshire!!! ;-D) I had hoped to get REp Shea Porter in the same shot but she had been cornered inside by a reporter and the Senator was rushing off to Concord NH for another campaign stop. At this time i interupted he interview and asked if she would step outside into the better light for a picture with the family. In spite of the fact that she too was was pressed for time (the event was not into its third hour) she coonsented and we got our shot. While on our way to the photo op she confided in me that she regularly wore her ONE button in Washington - i asked her if she would consent to wear it on the floor of the House of Representatives (and immediately realized that it was against the house rules and quickly apologized for asking) and thanked her notheless for her support. She also exchanges a amusing anecdote as did I which shall remain off the record... i know it was a little painfull for the kids but in time they will realize what a difference this can and is making to those they will never know.
