A Candidate’s Faith

Presidential candidates often talk about faith. This campaign season is no different, except that the candidates often mention the fight against poverty in the same breath.
Most recently, while speaking at the 50th anniversary convention of the United Church of Christ, Barack Obama brought up the role that people of faith are playing in movements like the ONE Campaign. From the New York Times:
“…Mr. Obama said that religion has a rightful role to play in American politics, and he praised people of faith who he said are now using their influence to try to unite Americans against problems like poverty, AIDS, the health care crisis and the violence in Darfur.
While not all ONE members are motivated by faith, this reference shows that we are getting our message through to the candidates, and that they are increasingly aware of our efforts to make extreme poverty and global disease a central issue in the race to the White House.

As nice as this reference is to point out, you have an unintentional slip here that I imagine Obama fans would want fixed ASAP. He spoke at a UCC event; that’s his church. The UCC is a small mainline denomination, and is politically and theologically nothing at all like the primarily Southern and Restorationist “Church of Christ.” Although of course not every ONE member is motivated by faith, those who are will probably feel more included if you get our names right.

it is wonderful to know that we have a man running for office that not only speaks about his faith, but more importantly, lives it. i applaud his character and willingness to stay above petty insults and accusations. i pray that Mr. Obama and his family are happy and courageous always.

i hope to hear from more candidates about their faith and how it motivates them to solve the genocide in Darfur. it is much too serious for us to take so lightly. we must speak on their behalf. Darfur is dying. if not us, than who?

I am a rebel somehow, i have some disagreement to some common thoughts in to our Moslem society which Distract from the truth in Holy Qoran.
Example, we tend to show the contradiction and disharmony to those we called: AHLUL KITAB (in AL BAGARAH) we shall be in good ally with them.
But the fact (with history based of confrontation) we example very familiar with things that we can conclude as Anti Semitism for example.
I am now single fighter, I am interested to Learn many king of Faiths. Well known one and some others which seemed has litle similarities to big beliefs as Jew, Christianity, Islam.
I want to get chance to do researc all over the world, how religion was spreaded.
I have hypothesis, that there is one RED LINE oabout monotheism starting ADAM Prophet untill Mohammad, to those many kind of beliefs in this world.
Many specific conditions that could modified major belief in to soooooooooooooo many denominations.
Some are showing strong red-line. Some showing medium red-line and the rest are showing very light even contradictions.
There always a story behind these all.
5000 years even longer then that,…. is long time, can we reconstruct the history, compile the lost un written ones???
How many years we can construct in to very comprehensive chronology scientifically????
ONE can be sponsor for a new World at the end.
Peaceful and justice.
ONE can do much, as i belief.
It is big project, ……but we shall start soonest.
Finally we found that God is really almighty, for this universe.
Once they know the background of their faith and their ultimate source….
It will change all minds into harmony,…
no more fighting n hatred.
AT LEAST, hatred in religions nomore as operative factor into any policies.
We respect JEWS, Christianity, Islam, we help other religions because they have the root. I call them as DENOMINATIONS from the primary.
Even Indigenous beliefs in very remote tribes …..
There was a fact how they can b such isolated,
