The “Feinstein-Hagel Dear Colleague” letter for the next step in the 2008 budget process has just started circulating – and just today we’ve already added four more senators to our list of supporters!

The letter asks the Senate to support $39.8 billion for the FY08 International Affairs Budget. That constituents a $3.9 billion increase over last year- the greatest one year increase to the account in recent history.

The current supporters are:

Daniel Akaka (D-HI), Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Norm Coleman (R-MN), Christopher Dodd (D-CT), Richard Durbin (D-IL), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Chuck Hagel (R-NE), Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), and Gordon Smith (R-OR).

We’re shooting for 60 senators by Thursday the 19th, but we won’t get there unless our leaders in Congress hear from their constituents.

Please take a moment right now to urge your senators to sign onto the “Feinstein-Hagel Dear Colleague” letter and let them know that you want to fully fund the fight against extreme poverty in 2008.
