Sununu News

By Alexandra Barrell, President of UNH for ONE, University of New Hampshire

We were honored to have New Hampshire’s own Senator Sununu come and address “UNH for ONE” on AIDS in Africa yesterday.

I founded “UNH for ONE” to empower students in the fight against AIDS and extreme poverty. Throughout the year, we have recognized Senator Sununu’s work in the Senate, especially on the 2007 continuing resolution and on the Smith-Dodd Amendment to secure development-assistance aid in the 2008 US budget.

Senator Sununu spoke about the growing support for our fight, and how he has worked with many of his Republican and Democratic colleagues on what he calls “the greatest humanitarian crisis in the world today.”

At the end of the event, UNH for ONE presented Senator Sununu with a T-shirt that we designed, and wear, to remember the promise to end AIDS around the world. Fighting extreme poverty is one of the biggest challenges that the world faces today, but UNH for ONE stands proudly with millions of other ONE members working to overcome this emergency.
