MN Member Reflections I

ONE member Kathy Price reflects on Saturday’s ONE member training in Minneapolis, Minnesota:

“I’m lost in the rain when two women in a car stop to ask me if I know where ONE is meeting. I tell them that’s where I’m headed, although I’ve no idea how to get there from here. Ive parked my car, so they invite me to ride with them. We find an instant camaraderie, and throughout the day there is that sense with each new person I meet, as if each is a friend I just hadn’t found until now.

With each speaker and session it becomes clearer, how each one of us can begin today, wherever we’re at in terms of talents and resources, with the ONE Campaign at the ready to assist us. The defining moment for me comes in a breakout session when MonĂ©t Cooper of Jubilee USA asks us to share why we care about people we’ve never met in other countries. Our answers reveal common threads, although each has its own twist, some dramatic, some subtle the thing that brought us here. What strikes me is the light that comes into each person’s face as they speak, a quiet radiance that transforms the gloomy basement room in an all-day rain outside. And that’s when it becomes tangible for me, like a flame passing from person to person: the power of ONE.
