Obama Wears the ONE Band in NH

My name is Melissa Skinner and I am a new but proud member of the ONE Campaign. Yesterday, here in New Hampshire, I was able to lend my voice to the poorest people in the world.

Standing outside a deli in the cold of Concord, NH, I was able to speak with presidential hopeful Senator Obama. I thanked him for talking about America’s role in saving lives in Africa and the world’s poorest countries and said I hoped he will join ONE’s campaign to fight AIDS and poverty.

Senator Obama immediately put on the ONE band I gave him, and talked with me about his trip to Kenya. He told me how he and his wife publicly took an AIDS test that helped encourage 50,000 people to be tested.

While I was talking with the Senator, Rep. Paul Hodes came over to us and took off his glove to show that he was wearing a ONE band too. It was an amazing moment and I was proud to be part of a growing movement of Americans that want to see our country do even more to fight global AIDS and extreme poverty.

Later on, I went to the University of New Hampshire in Durham to hear Senator Obama speak and I could see that he was still wearing the ONE band that I gave him. He even spoke about his bi-partisan work with republicans to fight global AIDS and commented about how our efforts reflect the morals and values of America.

This morning I found out that in the New Hampshire Union Leader and the Boston Globe there are front-page pictures of Senator Obama wearing his ONE band! All day long I have been getting calls from friends that saw or heard about the pictures. It was an amazing opportunity and I am so proud to be a member of ONE.

It is an honor to have you run for the executive offive of the United States of America. I want to said that you are now the elected presidential candiate; but i feel now as the general election is nearing closuer you will not be the president of the USA. But it is not to late if you show more hummility less arrogance. Iam also an african american college grauate from the university of michigan, lived in detroit during the 1967 riots the mismanagement of the coleman young (mayor) and born in the great state of tennessee. American is not easy; the game has to be played like a chess match. Watch the movie American President. I love this country so much, iam upset that schools do not have the students pledge allegiane to the flag or even sing the national athem. Yes, my degree is in business and social science. I listen to talk radio, many hosts trash you yes this is true, but many want to believe in you if you just say that you have no greater love than this country that you want to lead. I too followed president John Kennedy, ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. The mass public want true and humble leadership not prompus speech. Please change you tactics a little, show some humblity god wants you to. American is not easy, wear the flag pin out of your respect and love for this country. I am an Americian Patriot
