One of the biggest creative challenges we face is finding ways to adequately express the spirit and strength of our amazing membership — And more than this, to maximize the impact of member voices to push for the positive changes we are all seeking to achieve. Combine this scenario with a message-saturated G8 Summit and you’ll understand why we’ve had to find something extraordinary to do next week… Ahem, cue Tweet the Street…
We have been hard at work with some tech wizards to create the ONE Street Tweeter – a clever robot that can print short tweets, tweetetes if you will, (40 characters or less) on road surfaces. Yes – we want to take your messages on the road. Better still, if we print your message we’ll even send a pic of it back to you to share it with your friends.
So, what are you waiting for? You guys are more creative than any of those Mad Men types. Just tweet a message in your own words (no more than 40 characters including spaces) to encourage, rouse, and hustle the G8 to act now on hunger and poverty.
Tweet your message to @ONEStreetTweet or if you don’t do that sort of thing then you can type your message into the box below.
Let’s hit the road and get heard.

G8 leaders have to acts and talk less.
We have heard speeches and the implementation is far less below the projected objectives.
Our leaders also should take responsabilies of sharing the national resources accordingly, and stop applying the politics of begging and blaming others for their own mismanagement.

I studied Urban Horticulture in Cotonou, Benin for my thesis. It’s really great, especially how well they are organised (certainly relatively to other sectors in Benin) and how they recycle urban waste. Enormous potential here, as in most cities, both commercially and environmentally. But also dangers. But with some regulation & stimulation this will flourish even further. Policy makers should see this and not fight this. Sustainable cities – everywhere, but particularly in The South – are impossible without Urban Agriculture! And there’s enough space in any city where you don’t want people to build/ squat: around military bases, airports, chemical plants (where the crops could be a warning signal for pollution as well), along waterways, underneath electricity poles, on rooftops (goats in Cairo), on balconies, in cellars (mushroom farms), in neglected (front)gardens to government buildings, schoolgardens, ‘flower centres along main roads preventing establishment of complete markets, etc…

Tame the world through the belly by controlling hunger.
May 11, 2012 at 10:51
We do not want food handouts (dependence on food aid). If we are to truely eradicate hunger and poverty in Africa, governments need to invest in agriculture and not in weapons of war. For arid regions, there is need for heavy investment in holistic land and livestock management as a means of poverty eradication and environmental healing at the same time. Agricultural inputs do not mean seed and ferrttilizers only, livestock seed )big or small) is equally essential to promote livelihoods dependent on livestock.

Dear G8,
Remember YOU ARE, because WE ARE
Signed us Africans.
May 11, 2012 at 11:11
We hope that G8 will finalilly realise that talking about porverty and hundger that continue to kill millions of Africans is not a solutions to the sufferings endured by the continent for so long. Africa needs to be independent and this can be realised once the rich stop giving handout outs but invest ind Education and Agriculture. Africa is ready to produce food for itself from this fertile continent. Do give us food but an opportunity to produce more fooid in a sustainable way
May 11, 2012 at 11:35

It is very painful to see others throwing food while helpless children starving. G8, you have been powered by the love of God. You must share this gift in good faith by feeding those who mostly need your help.
May 11, 2012 at 13:08
We are all made for the sublime, the transcendent.. We are made for freedom and laughter and goodness and love and eternity, despite all appearances to the contrary. We are not bound to this earth and a humdrum existence. We should be straining to become what we have in it us to become; to gaze at the rising sun and lift off and soar.

Africa is a country with so much potential, but areas are turning into deserts, because of ignorance by poor people who are too hungry to think of what will happen if the ground becomes desert due to over grazing of half starved cattle and wild game. The G8 group (richest in the world) should firstly stop the wars and other political problems and teach the people how to plow and plant, but they need water, that is a real problem, that only the governments of the world can sort out, give a man a fish and he eats one good meal, give him a rod and teach him how to fish and he feeds himself for as long as there are fish, so much can be done by the G8 , if they remember that solutions must be practical, aids and other diseases are a real problem, send the army, agricutural people etc., to help the people and teach them how to plant and put up boar holes etc. Give people in these poverty stricken areas, hope and dignity, they are humans just like all the wealth G8 members.

How much more humiliation is this continent supposed to suffer, diseases, wars, oppression and now the total injustice of failing to feed its people and you still have the audacity to call our harpless leaders to marvel your Great 8 annual party! The decence of humanity would make you the G8 kmowing that those who look at your party around Africa have had a meal a day!
May 11, 2012 at 18:52
The tears of our suffering brothers and sisters can only be dried through the initiative of good leadership.
May 11, 2012 at 18:53
The G8 should increase Project Support Rather than supporting through African Government which are corrupt and do not make it possible for the money to reach the targeted farmer groups.
Such Project support Should also invest in irrigation equipment, tractors for cultivation, value addition equipment like simple technologies which rural people can use to obtain fruit juice which can be preserved for a long shelf life.
Post harvesting technologies and equipment which can facilitate farmers to improve on their seeds to a global standard.
G8 should also support individuals to go on study tours to countries like Israel where Farming has really improved and allow them bring back such good lessons learnt to their home countries.
For UGANDA in particular, The Busoga Region, should be supported just like the Northern region and Western to increase on food production rather than government forcing this community in growing just sugar cane which lives the region with no farm land for food.

I escape the poverty because someone care enough to share.
Will you be like that someone help stop hunger and poverty .
May 11, 2012 at 19:36
Hi G8,
let all support reach in relatively acceptable ratio to the beneficiaries rather than filling the socalled NGO management pocket.
May 11, 2012 at 20:15
Ideas are a dime a dozen; putting them into practice is priceless! Thus the G8 Summit of 2012 at Camp David, USA ought not only have and create ideas [read programs and plans] on poverty eradication in developing countries, but out to put in place mechanisms for the implementation of poverty eradication programs/plans/ideas; to put them into practice!
May 11, 2012 at 22:23
Deaths due to hunger and poverty can be prevented and therefore any country/leadership leaving people to languish in those scenarios must face criminal charges. Then those planning to go to war will do so with the repercutions in mind. That will end unnecessary wars that leave people homeless and poor as well as save country funds for famine and poverty erradication. Priority will be given to child survival , maternal health and communicable diseases than ammunitions. Bakanuki

Africa is a continent bless with natural resources and human resources, Our lands fed our ancestors and did exports too. This bless lands are now neglected by our present leaders in favor of crude oil and bloody diamonds, storing their loots in foreign banks. We Africa citizens should wake up to give lives to our lands because our survival depend on Agriculture in order to eradicate poverty. Long Live Africa and Africans..

We are all children of Adam,
It is a great day on which a slave buys on his freedom. When the natural rights of a man are violated it is pain.Let us not close our eyes, to pretend that nothing happen, while our people dying.Let us motivate to approach things that bring pleasure and avoid things that bring pain.Everyone have access to safe and nutritious food.Fundamental right of everyone to be free from hunger.Happiness is the ultimate goal of life. An estimate250 000 to 500 000 vitamin A deficient children become blind ever year half of them dying within 12months.after losing of their sight.our leaders must focus to strengthen agricultural,,fisheries and forestry.Access to health care and education and opportunities for youth.Eradicate hunger in all countries.140million children are are vitamin A deficient .Iodine deficiency can lead to enlargement of the thyroid. .

Humankind is hunted by a lethal phenomena called hunger, a worst way to experience death. Fighting together for a common cause can bring about change in the world we live in. This scourge has claimed so many lives and is perpetuated by those who do nothing about it yet have all the means to end it. Colonialism, imperialism, apartheid cannot be worse than hunger and famine. Humanbeings used to be hunters now the hunters are hunted by this terrible nightmare. So much is at stake human life is the most valuable asset of the world not nuclear prolification which intends wiping out the very life we value. Billions and billions of dollars are spent on weapons of mass destruction, who do we wish to eliminate, let us utilize the resources of the world wisely by preserving life than destroying it. Leaders of the world open your hearts and minds by employing all your energy and resources in building a better future for the entire universe. A world free of this monster called hunger, famine and poverty is possible and this ideal world can become a real one, only if you realize the importance of life. Not just that of yourselves but that of others, I am because you are, let us promote the spirit of brotherhood amongst the nations of the world and the significance of life and its preservation. I thank you.

A long time ago, my dad lost his business ad we were forced to move to a derelict place, called Lucern, in the North West Province. There was a well and fertile soil. Within a few months, with the help of kind neighbours’ assistance, we reaped abundance. Two chickens and some seeds and whola! we had forty chickens, eggs and a variety of vegetables. One of the empty rooms attracted bees and we had honey to boot.
It can be done. I speak from personal experience.
Governments must encourage and support this initiative to sustain every one of our bretheren throughout the world.

Together we can eliminate hunger
May 14, 2012 at 17:30
Every one knows that Hunger and Poverty are kept to be a thrill in 3rd world countries. If the G8 countries are willing to share a fraction percentage from their giant budgets of defense and fund it for a project intend to improve the farming methods, I hope there would be a big change. For example in my country and neighboring countries, minimum 80% of the population is engaged in intensive farming using a traditional tools to cultivate the land, like an ox etc. and as result most farmers could not harvest more in order to keep the part of it for food security. So in my opinion the basic solution should be upgrading the farming methodology in order to secure food in 3rd world countries, which in turn will be turning point to eradicate poverty. Here my message is not only for the G8 countries leaders, but also for the leaders of third world countries, to implement such projects with utmost importance, even considering it as part of their national budget will make them proud by their own people.
May 14, 2012 at 20:14
G8 leaders must turn their attention genuinely to the eradication of poverty in Africa otherwise the consequency will be unbearable for them.
May 14, 2012 at 22:54
You cannot help people by doing for them what they ought to do for themselves. G8, help Africa eradicate hunger and poverty by empowering us.
May 15, 2012 at 07:32
G8 Leaders, Hunger and Povery can be eradicated. Eating at least two meals a day will put a smile on many faces. Let us feed the world, its Godly and a good thing to do.

HUNGER AMONG SREET CHILDREN IN AFRICA IS NOT MATCHING WITH EXPENSES OF LEADER’S BANQUETS.
May 16, 2012 at 11:59
I recently learnt that G8 and G20 made promises in 2009 that they would commit $22billion to increasing food security and only half of that has been disbursed or still to be disbursed. I believe Africa has large market and labor, but finance is obviously the greatest hindrance. If only G8 could only disburse those funds, our agriculture sector could greatly improve. Children literally die of starvation in Africa. I would really love to see the end of malnutrition related deaths in my life time.

To the “G8″,the world is wailing in anguish because of povery and malnutration.Where is your voice Great Leaders? Please do something. When you eat and enjoy, remember there are people out there who have not eaten food for days and sleep in the cold.God has given you that Power and wealth .Share what you have with others. Why would you need a billion Dollars for while others are languishing in abject poverty?
